Podcast Question - I've had the opportunity lately to counsel a teenage boy that is struggling with pornography. He is aware of the inappropriate sin nature of this and has displayed some guilt or remorse. The parents want to be involved in helping him through this. The dad is a step-dad.

My questions to you are:

1. Can you provide some parameters in which I can use to provide help and hope for this family?

2. Specifically speaking, should the parents be involved in the counseling?

3. What steps should I take to help this young man gain freedom from this snare?

4. What appropriate passages of Scripture will resonate with the teenager?

I think you can best serve me and your listeners if you used this as a basis for a “pertaining to life and godliness” podcast. My concern is that more and more of our young people are getting involved in pornography, and at younger ages.

I heard on the radio today a well-known pastor say that as Christians we should not describe ourselves as "sinners save by grace,” but "saints who occasionally sin". If we describe ourselves as the first what a "dangerous, miserable way to live,” he stated.

1. As Christians, how much focus should there be on the reality of daily sin versus the spiritual reality of our identification in Christ and His holiness dwelling within us?

What is the relationship between mental illness and suicide? Is that the best way to ask this question? If not, how would you frame the problem a person who commits suicide? What does the Bible say?

I would frame the question this way: “Can a fallen person, even if they have been regenerated, commit suicide?”

Apart from biblio-centric stewardship of our bodies and souls, we have no hope for our organic or non-organic selves--body or soul.

If there is a person in your church who is living in a sinful lifestyle and is a leader, how should I respond to that person? Should I sit under their teaching and leadership?

I know I am to engage sinners for redemptive purposes because that is what Christ did to me. I don't want to separate from them, but influence them with the Gospel. But what about the ongoing sinfulness of someone in your church?

The first step in resolving relational conflict with someone is to examine your heart while addressing your attitude toward the person with which you have conflict.
