This inaugural music festival received a FooFoo grant this year, and the Handlebar has matched that grant to bring Pensacola the Night Moves Fest on 11/4/22, noon-11 p.m., at Maritime Park's Hunter Amphitheater. Chris McKean and Rob Goodspeed have the details.

Under the direction of Margie Timmons, the full-scale, professional production of Xanadu will wheel into UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts Nov. 10-12 during the 2023 Pensacola Foo Foo Festival. Dixon School of Arts & Sciences is bringing the campy, Tony Award®-nominated musical to Pensacola, where it will not only entertain but will also serve as an educational and fundraising opportunity for students at Dixon School of Arts & Sciences. HCA Florida West Hospital and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will be set up on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon in front of HCA Florida West Hospital and the Pine Forest Emergency Room to take back and properly dispose of expired or unused medications from the public. We will be set up outside so people will not even have to get out of their cars. They can just pull up to our locations and a Sheriff’s Deputy will be there assist. This event also coincides with the Drug Enforcement Administrations (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  Kendrick Doidge has the details.

The inaugural Innisfree Food Challenge was a huge success with hundreds attending this sizzling showdown of culinary excellence as they watched 14 teams competing for a chance to win a coveted ticket (valued at $1,000 each) to compete in the World Food Championships in Dallas. Prizes in the World Food Championship in November include $7,500 for each category and $100,000 for the ultimate winner. Runners, walkers and all those passionate about mental health are invited to join the LandrumHR 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 21. The 5k starts at 8 a.m. from the LandrumHR office in downtown Pensacola, located at 219 E.  Garden Street. Proceeds from the event will benefit Lakeview Center, which last year served more than 24,000 adults and children with mental illnesses, drug and alcohol dependencies, and intellectual disabilities. Ascension Sacred Heart and the University of West Florida will begin a strategic initiative that allows 16 upper-level Bachelor of Science in Nursing students to complete the final three semesters of their clinical and classroom time on Sacred Heart Pensacola’s campus.
