The podcast currently has 47 episodes available.
In Sept we headed to Moose Jaw to interview winners, stallion owners and sponsors at the 2023 Saskatchewan Barrel Racing Finals. In this episode are three of our live interviews, Brooklyn Shauf, Robyn Hoover and Dana Lovell.
These three ladies were generous enough to spare some of their time over a busy week of competition. We sure do appreciate their perspective and talent on the podcast. Hope you enjoy listening to these interviews and feel like your a part of the action!
Thank you to the Saskatchewan Barrel Racing Association for welcoming us into their event.

Hey it's Shelby and Carollyne here! We have been chugging away at the podcast bringing you interview after fabulous interview but we thought it would be fun to change it up a bit.
And what better topic to chat about then Shelby's wedding!! Which was a pinterest worthy family fun affair. Absolutely beautiful, chill and a wonderful celebration. She had some real fun tricks for keeping it budget friendly and gorgeous so we thought it would be fun to share.
If your getting married, got married, thinking of planning a party or renewing your vows... this is a great episode to listen too!

In this episode Dr. Kirstie Oswald walks us step by step through the process of diagnosing and treating Gastric Ulcers. We were surprised at how complex this seemingly straight forward problem actually is and how connected ulcers are to your horses mental health and overall physical health.
We JAM PACKED this episode full of detailed information on everything from preventing gastric ulcers, how nutrition plays a factor in gastric ulcers and how other injuries can interact with a horses overall health and cause gastric ulcers (or vice verse). We really dig into the details and get some juicy info about just how us horse owners can kick gastric ulcers to the curb for good (or manage them successfully).
We sure do appreciate Dr. Oswald joining us and taking time away from her regular duties as veterinarian with Elm Creek Equine Veterinary Services.

What's the secret to taking those amazing, jaw dropping images we see of each other cruising through the arena? In this episode we were able to ask photographer, Carey Lee, about how he captures those really great moments with our horses.
If you live in Manitoba and compete in rodeo or barrel racing you've probably been photographed by Carey Lee at some point and maybe even bought a photo or two. Carey Lee has also earned his spot as an official photographer for Crossfire Bull Riding. During the summer months he is all over Manitoba photographing equine events and posts hundreds of amazing photos of athletes, both horse and human. We are very lucky to have such an accomplished photographer in our area!
You're probably wondering if we asked him for tips on how we can take better photos. We sure did! He gave some helpful suggestions but honestly it had us thinking we're better off on the horse and letting him take the position behind the camera lens. There is a lot of time, effort, and equipment that goes into capturing and editing a fantastic photo.
We can't thank Carey Lee enough for joining us on the podcast and giving us some insight into being an equine photographer.

Favourite quote of the episode, “I ask all my new clients, ‘Do you like gambling?’ and if they don’t say no I’m like, ‘We may have a problem here’ Ha ha we loved the candid conversation about how Krystal deals with budgeting for competitions and those hard conversations.
We appreciated this conversation so much and what a treat to talk to someone who’s walking the walk!

She’s Baaack!!! Michelle Davey returns to the podcast to talk to us about nerves and anxiety. She gives us some great strategies to manage nerves and transform anxiety into focus. We interviewed Bonnie Joanette who is a Registered Massage Therapist for humans and equines and an expert on Essential Oils. In this episode she walks us step by step through choosing and using essential oils. We even dive into how essential oils work and what they do for our health.
We asked Bonnie:
To explain essential oils starting from the beginning; what are they and how do they actually work.
How do you use essential oils on your horses and dogs. Where do you put them and how do you know if they are working.
Bonnie told us some personal stories about her horses and dogs and their reaction to oils.
She shares her personal favourite oils and why they she chooses them.
Bonnie just happens to be Shelby’s soon to be mother-in-law and just a wonderful lady to chat with. It was such a pleasure having her on the podcast and we hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did!

Horses are like kids. Just when you think everything is going smoothly they throw a curve ball at you. and more times than not that comes in the form of an unexpected injury or illness. It’s inevitable.
Knowing how to handle those dumb situations our horses get into AND keep your cool can save you so much time and stress (for the horse and for you)!
On today’s episode we interviewed an expert on Equine First Aid, Kelsey Wood-Steppler from The Wood Ridge Ranch. She talked us through strategies for dealing with these emergency situations.
Now she’ll be the first to tell you that preparation is the first key to equine and canine first aid which is why she generously shared what’s in her own First Aid kit. You’ll find the full list below. And it is GOLD.
During this episode she also gave us tons of tips and tactical strategies for when disaster strikes. Perfect for us horse moms, dog moms or kid moms that accept that accidents happen and want to feel prepared and ready to take action when disaster strikes.
Kelsey is a Certified Instructor with Equi-Health Canada and Canine Health Canada. She offers regular first aid courses throughout Manitoba. You can find upcoming dates on her website.
