Ridge gets called in last minute to do a gig in a club he’s never worked before. It turned out that it was a somewhat important night, the band were showcasing their songs to record label executives. Ridge personally knew the singer of one of the bands who happened to invite Jerry Cantrell to see their show. Ridge gets called in last minute and gets there late, on top of that he soon realizes that this is an unfamiliar to him setup, people are getting agitated and everything goes wrong…

Ridge works as a sound engineer in a famous club on Sunset Strip in LA. An amateur band booked a gig night at this club a night after the audio equipment got broken. The band came in and after being informed of the busted speakers they go on stage and in between songs start complaining about the sound. A couple of guys in the audience came up to Ridge and booted him out of the sound booth, falsely believing that they could do a better job and doing sound…to their disappointment nothing could have been done. Nevertheless they came complaining and whining and making everybody feeling embarrassing.

Ridge used to do a few sound gigs in a small local pizza parlor. The place was a little family restaurant with a small stage for cover bands and tribute bands to go on and entertain the crowd. One time Ridge got a fussy client playing for a Bruce Springsteen tribute band. The singer, who had delusions of grandeur about himself and posed as the Boss himself, got Ridges phone number and email address, and started harassing him via texts, demanding that he responds. Ridge could not take such unprofessional behavior from the guy, so he wrote him a “nasty” response…that eventually got passed around amongst sound guys and a few other people. “The Boss” became a laughing stock.

Working as as sound engineer can be tough, especially when every member in a band, that you are doing sound for, pretends to be a sound guy. On top of that, the matters become more dramatic and exaggerated when band members in tribute bands are delusional about themselves and are on a ton of coke…working as a sound man, can sometimes give you an insight in human psychology and behavior.

This is a story of one such delusional coke head and his “sound guy expertise”.

Ridge works as a sound engineer in LA. He runs an open mic in one of the clubs he does sound. As a rule open miners are usually given 3 songs that last between 3 and 4 minutes. There is usually a list where put their names on and the night progresses. However, there is always that one “special” person who happens to be drunk and possibly on drugs, who is also a woman (which adds to the frustration) and is also a singer songwriter. One such lovely individual gets on stage and hogs the stage for almost 30 minutes.. It is up to Ridge to deal with the crazy lady and get her off the stage..

Ridge spent a lot of time working as a sound engineer on Sunset Strip in LA. During his time working there he ran into a lot of drunk and wobbly celebrities. On one night when he was loading the audio equipment into one of the famous music clubs on Sunset Strip he ran into a celebrity (of course at the time he didn’t realize it), who was constantly in his way…Ridge decided to hint a little more clearly to the guy that he was being in his way loading the equipment..after he did. Ridge worked in a famous LA club as a sound guy… Needless to say a lot of celebrities frequent that club just to relax and feel normal. On one such open mic/jam night, when Ridge was behind the soundboard, Bruce Dickinson walked in and decided to sing “Come Together” by the Beatles…Before he even got to get halfway through the song, a dreadlocked high guy ran up to the stage and decided to help Bruce sing the song by yanking the mic out of his hands…. The party was soon over for the Rasta guy, while Bruce was trying to digest what happened.

She gets on the plane to go home and Ridge can’t resist the feelings of both sadness and happiness overwhelm him. Ridge is having a friendly discussion with a foreigner after one of his shows. The fellow keeps drinking and by the times he gets too many beers in him he starts acting aggressive towards Ridge. Ridge tells him his gay stories and how he used to not understand the gay body language. The drinker gets pissed off and accuses Ridge of being homophobic.
