Tony Harris (Tony's Lyrics) originally wrote and produced this song for sharing on his SoundCloud site. Always liked it, and the poignant, nostalgic tale of a time gone by. Seems a Radio Station in his Hometown, where Tammy Wynette and Sonny James began their careers, was closed down after Sixty-Seven Years. Anyway, Tony recently asked if I might re-create a version of it. Revised, minimally, for Lyrics to fit my phrasing. An AcoustaTronic take on one of Tony's Terrific Story-Tellin' Tunes. This one, based upon a True Story. Thanks for letting me share in your Music, Tony, My Good Friend. I really enjoyed this project. Please do check out Tony's other songs and collaborative projects at "Tony's Lyrics" on SoundCloud.
The Music Died Today ©
Lyrics by Tony Harris (2017 - Tony’s Lyrics)
Music by Riff Beach
It was such a sad day today
In our lovely small town
For our beloved Radio Station
Well now, they just closed it down
Founded back in ’Fifty
It had become a local Landmark
Played Lots of Great Music
And, how it warmed our Hearts
(Chorus)
Oh, The music just died today
In my Hometown
Just flipped a switch, so they say
Then, there was no more sound
> (Then, they shut ‘er down) <
And, You can blame it on This
Or, You can blame it on That
Well, It all just went away
Yeah, the music died today
And a cold wind blew our way
When (As) the music died today
Memories still remain
But, no more requests….
Golden Days are all gone
The DeeJay’s were the best
As ‘American Pie’ Played On
Well, it brought us all to tears
Last song our station’ll ever play
After Sixty-Seven Years….
