Texas scored two runs in a 3-2 loss to the Angels and let another AL West opportunity slip away in Anaheim. Cody Bradford gave the Rangers seven innings of three-run ball in his second start back, but the offense managed no hits after the sixth. Houston lost too, leaving Texas a half-game back.
Austin digs into the lineup decisions behind the frustration, including Jake Burger’s platoon case, Joc Pederson in the leadoff spot, Osuna vs. Kelenic and Evan Carter’s slump. The show also weighs what Bradford has actually proven so far, Mike Maddux’s firing by the Angels, and how much of the roster’s unevenness belongs on Skip Schumaker.
Texas outlasted the Angels 4-1 in 10 innings, but this show starts with the bullpen work that kept the game alive. Robby Ahlstrom delivered 1⅓ scoreless in a tie game, Elias Díaz drove in Texas’ first run, and MacKenzie Gore struck out nine over 5⅓ innings on 103 pitches. Brandon Nimmo broke the tie in the 10th, Jake Burger followed with a two-run single, and Jacob Latz closed it out. We also get into the lineup decisions, Nathan Eovaldi’s elbow IL stint, the October rotation picture, the AL West race, and Cody Bradford’s Game 120 matchup.
Texas had a chance to sweep Baltimore and push its winning streak to five. Instead, the Orioles erupted for 15 hits and four homers in a 10-5 Rangers loss. Kumar Rocker was tagged for six runs in three innings, Pete Alonso homered twice and drove in four, and Jordan Montgomery allowed three more runs in his first MLB appearance since 2024. Brandon Nimmo’s three-run homer briefly pulled Texas within two, but the Rangers finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. On this episode, we break down Rocker’s rough start, Baltimore’s sudden offensive explosion, and an ugly finale that still leaves Texas with a series win but sends the Rangers back to .500.
