Right Start Radio with Pastor Jim Custer

It all started with a question. Some people wanted to learn the will of God concerning a certain religious tradition. To all appearances they were sincere in their question, and they were serious about it, but God basically answered them, "I couldn't care less." This week in Zechariah 7, 8 and 9 we'll learn what the Lord does value from us; and we'll explore a prophecy that includes both Jesus, and Alexander the Great! There's a lot packed into these 3 chapters. Let's dive into them, with Jim.

Eight is the number of new beginnings, and Zechariah saw eight prophetic vignettes. If I were to just list all of them, that wouldn't give you much information; we invite you to open your Bible and inspect them for yourself. Some of these quick visions near the end of the Old Testament remind us of others we find in the final book of the New Testament: Revelation. We'll point out those connections as we go to Zechariah chapter 4 and beyond, here in this last full week of August.

What did Zechariah see, and what did it mean? Well, he saw eight miniatures - short films, if you will - pocket-sized visions of what God had planned. And as for what they meant, he didn't know, so he asked. This week on the program we're studying the early chapters of the prophet Zechariah. And we'll see that the "Lord of Armies" was concerned about more than just the immediate tasks of returning and rebuilding; He gives us all a peek at the remote future.
