This episode features Kelsey Macaddino, acting president of RIISE. She is a former member of the Purdue Womens swimming team. Being a student athlete studying bio medical engineering means she is busy, but she devotes an incredible amount of time to this organization. We are looking forward to her leadership until graduation (which is right around the corner). She was also coached by former guest on the show, Evan Austin. We talk about Evan and all things surrounding the paralympics as of late June. Enjoy! RIISE is a new student-organization on Purdue University's campus. RIISE stands for Reinventing the Interface of Inclusivity, Sports and Engineering. Our mission? Together, we strive to raise awareness for Paralympic sports around the world and pursue projects at the interface of inclusivity, sports and engineering. RIISE was created at Purdue University, one of the best engineering hubs in the US. Therefore, we plan to use our platform to showcase Paralympic excellence around the world while pursuing projects and hosting events to improve sports accessibility in our local community and beyond. We are a club made up of students from different backgrounds and disciplines, striving together towards a world where athletes at all levels have the means and support to play and perform at their full potential. The direction of this podcast is to interview Paralympians and influencers of the Paralympic movement. Everything from telling a story, to talking about change we can make as a community...
