This episode of the RIISE Podcast features disability advocate and recreational therapist, Evan Davis. Kaylee and Evan discuss the importance of accessible opportunities in sports and implementing these opportunities in the University spectrum. Evan is the founder of the Wheelchair Basketball Club at Indiana University and speaks about what it means to be a part of this community and gives advice on how to get involved in advocacy.

We are a club made up of students from different backgrounds and disciplines, striving together towards a world where athletes at all levels have the means and support to play and perform at their full potential.
The direction of this podcast is to highlight the amazing things the RIISE Organization does in the Purdue community. This episode features Purdue student and rare disease advocate, Anneliese Williams. After Anneliese was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrom, an intense autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the nerves, she was left paralyzed in the ICU. In this episode, she discusses how she is recovering, and how physical therapy and playing wheelchair basketball with the Lafayette Spinners has helped her physically and mentally. She shares her thoughts on the RIISE Student Organization and a recent visit she had to Washington D.C. where she spoke to state representatives advocating for people with rare diseases like hers.

Kaylee is the president of RIISE and coach of the local Wheelchair Basketball team, the Lafayette Spinners. The direction of this podcast is the share more about the organization RIISE instead of interviewing athletes. While we love bringing Paralympic excellence to our platform, we have decided that telling local stories and more Purdue-relevant stories will be most impactful in following out our mission statement.

This episode features Kelsey Macaddino, acting president of RIISE. She is a former member of the Purdue Womens swimming team. Being a student athlete studying bio medical engineering means she is busy, but she devotes an incredible amount of time to this organization. This episode features Noelle Lambert, the founder of the Born to Run Foundation. She lost her leg in 2016 and competed in 2019 with a 4th place finish. A very inspiring and unique story with a lot of variety. She has recently started running after playing lacrosse with her college team.
