Israel insisted on doing things on their own, But God sent His prophets to call them to repent, to make things right. Only He could get them out of the trouble they were in, if only they would turn to Him. The same is true for us if we turn to God when we find ourselves in trouble.

God is never pleased with the destruction of his own creation. He doesn't take pleasure in punishing the wicked, but rather in showing mercy to those who would turn to Him. In Today's message, Pastor Dan shows us how gracious God is and how He loves His children. Even when Israel had turned its back on God and was spiritually dead, He reminded them that they could still turn to Him. Just like when we were lost in our sins, He sent Jesus to rescue us from the path of destruction we were on.

And if you know someone like that, whether it be a rebellious child or a friend, you understand how frustrating it is to watch them constantly go against God. So you pray and you talk to them when you can and you hope that they pay attention to God before it’s too late. And it broke His heart to have to carry out His judgment on them because He loved them so much.

And although it’s easy to lose sight of the grace of God when you read the Old Testament, it’s still there. Kinda like an undercurrent, flowing beneath the more obvious stuff. By Hosea’s time, the people of Israel were completely off the rails as far as their relationship with God.
