In this story, Uncle Wiggily, the kind rabbit gentleman, meets the Queen of Hearts from the nursery rhyme who is worried about making tarts because she doesn't know how and fears the Jack of Hearts will steal them as the rhyme predicts. Uncle Wiggily tries to help her bake, recalling instructions from his housekeeper, Nurse Jane. However, they mistakenly use red pepper instead of jam, making the tarts fiery hot. When the Jack of Hearts sneaks in to steal the tarts, he takes a bite, finds them unbearable, and flees, vowing never to touch her tarts again, much to the Queen's relief as she can now bake proper tarts without fear of theft.
