In John 3:22-36, we see how competition emerged between the ministries of Jesus and John the Baptist. When John's disciples expressed concern about Jesus' growing popularity, John demonstrated the perfect response to competition in faith: submission. He recognized that everything we have comes from heaven, and our role is not to be the center of attention but to point others to Christ. John's famous declaration, 'He must increase, but I must decrease,' captures the essence of the Christian life. This principle challenges us to examine what we're clinging to instead of Christ and to intentionally decrease so that Jesus can increase in our lives.
