Mission:

To unite the many pathways to recovery (recovery support services) and educate the public and professionals in the field about the existing recovery support services. We deliver on our commitment by uniting representatives from the many pathways to recovery, presenting an innovative and dynamic panel discussion, and offering participants a chance to meet with representatives from different recovery programs to learn more. Choice empowers professionals in the field to truly operate a client centered practice.

Vision:

All individuals are empowered to CHOOSE a recovery pathway that resonates with them.

What we do:

Choice fulfills its mission and vision by contracting with various organizations and agencies in order to host Choice events at their facilities/campuses. We begin our events with presentations from each program representative. This is then followed by a dynamic panel

Episode Snapshot: This week, it was an honor for us to sit down with Tom Coderre, where we discussed his time as the recent Chief of Staff at Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Tom passionately shares his story of recovery with us and gives us a little insight on what the next phase of his journey looks like.

Tom’s Story:

Well known in the addiction recovery community, Tom Coderre was Chief of Staff to the Rhode Island Senate President prior to joining SAMHSA as a Senior Advisor to the Administrator at the end of August 2014. He served as the Board Chair for Rhode Island Communities for Addiction Recovery Efforts (RICARES), and he is the former National Field Director of Faces & Voices of Recovery. Mr. Coderre has an extensive background in government and served in the Rhode Island Senate from 1995-2003. He is a graduate of Rhode Island College where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Some may recognize him from a recent documentary about the recovery movement, The Anonymous People.

Mr. Coderre worked on a variety of issues for SAMHSA and the Administrator, including but not limited to prevention, treatment and recovery programs and policy. He has coordinated collaboration on these issues and representing SAMHSA with other HHS offices and operating divisions, and with the White

Episode Snapshot: This week, it was an honor for us to sit down with Gary Mendell, CEO of Shatterproof and Nadine Machkovech, Program Manager of Rise Together.  We spoke to Gary and discussed his part in helping to create an amazing cause called Shatterproof; a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the devastation that addiction causes families. In this episode, you will also get the opportunity to hear Gary’s story & how he lost his son, Brian, to addiction and the promise Gary has made to help spare others from the same tragedy.

Greg Williams is a filmmaker and a recovery leader. He is the award winning documentary filmmaker of The Anonymous People, a film that traces the history and struggles of over twenty three million individuals living in recovery.

His most recent film project, released in 2016, Generation Found, is a powerful story about one community coming together to ignite a youth addiction recovery revolution in their hometown. Episode Snapshot: This week, it was an honor to sit down with the family of Zach Rozelle, where they share how they tragically lost their son to the disease of addiction in October of 2016. Zach’s stepmom, Betsy Rozelle, his father Ben, and his step-sister Bree Schmidt, joined us in the studio to bring a message of hope. They are sharing their son’s story so that it will hopefully help someone out there, a family, who may be suffering and inspire them to find support.
