Jesus was the master Storyteller. In this story, we find the proper approach to approaching God. It is not by our works or comparing ourselves to others. Rather, surrender and expressing our needs to God rivets God's heart.

The parable of the Great Banquet was a story Jesus told in order to communicate a central truth to the reality of His Kingdom; that the invitation to His Kingdom is not just for those one would expect, the religious and influential, but for everyone across the earth. What's more, He has called His servants, those who have accepted the invitation, to go out and invite others and announce the good news that all are welcome.

Everyone loves a good story. Stories are the language of the human soul. Perhaps this is why Jesus told so many stories with profound meaning! From Deuteronomy 6:4-9 we see God's desire for the family. The reality is that our families fall short of that desire. We must develop healthy biblical boundaries with our family in order to live out the mission and purposes of God. We need the boundaries of Helping, Connecting and Communication. Help instead of Enable... Connect instead of Enmesh... Communicate instead of Control.

Like a good parent, God loves us enough to tell us "no" and to set up healthy boundaries for our lives. We too must learn to trust that God has our best interest in mind and that by trusting Him, we too can say "no" in order to say "yes" to God's best for our lives.
