The 23rd psalm is often associated with death. However, it is truly a scripture about our life HERE and now! We can sometimes think we lack the things we need to get through this life. But, according to this verse, we lack NOTHING. WE have been given everything we need for this moment, this time in our lives. When we completely embrace this truth, it becomes transformative in the way we relate to our Good Shepherd!

Psalm 16:8 I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. "I have set the Lord"... It is a discipline and choice, an act of the will to keep the Lord before us. We live in a noisy world where we are constantly bombarded with messages, images and experiences which will distract our hearts away from God if we allow them to. In this episode we discuss verse three of Be Thou My Vision. We also discuss how God is pursuing us with His mercy and goodness and how likewise we are to be in pursuit after Him will all that we have.

In an age of contemporary worship music, where lyrics tend to be more simplistic in nature, we felt it appropriate to bring a song that is deep in scriptural truth yet still maintains a contemporary sound. Our prayer is that this song will restore some historic church music into our worship expression, equip you with sound doctrine, and inspire you to worship throughout your day.

This second verse of the song Be thou My Vision and the scriptures behind it shed great light onto the truth of how God sees us.  We are His children and part of His family. In the same unchangeable way that our parents blood is running through our veins, so is our position in the Gods family. It is established, there is nothing we can do to change that. When we continually remain cognizant of that fact, we will always know who we are and where our identity is, in Him. The result of this understanding will be a life of worship is more honest and true as we shine forth the glory that he has shined within us..

The song "Be thou My Vision" was inspired and influenced by one of the most recognized people of all time. This person even has his own national holiday where the color green and shamrocks are the icon of the day. Although many celebrate this day by drinking green beer and looking for the opportunity to pinch someone who is not wearing the color green, few know the real story of the holiday's namesake and impetus for the song "Be Thou My Vision". He was an author and christian missionary to the Irish, St Patrick.

Daniel 3:16-18

Avoiding idol worship and learning to worship God without fear.

The idol of self is very prevalent today. We see can see this in the dominance of social media over the way we use our time and how we care so deeply the way others see us. We want to show everyone else how great we are and how great our lives are. We do this by placing very curated posts and images about our lives which portray us in the absolute best light. Even to the point that when we are posting about the most mundane things of life such as working out or cooking dinner for the family, we often do it clothed as a humble brag. This behavior is contrary to the scripture of phil. 2:3 where it says "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." This drive to always present ourselves in a better light, often better than reality is really driven by fear. Fear that we will not be accepted the way we are, fear that we are not good enough, fear that someone else may have a life that is better than ours.

In this episode we examine Psalm 71 9-24. Have you ever been so afraid for your life that you had to go on the run and hide yourself away? Fortunatley, most of us will never have to endure such circumstances. But for David, this was the reality he was living. Instead of grumbling or complaining, his response was to praise God for all of his blessings and how God was going to triumph on his behalf in such a mighty way that it would be a testimony for all to see just how mighty his God was.
