In 1 John 1:1-4, we see the Apostle John's opening words to an ancient church he ministered to. He writes to declare the "Word of Life" that is found in Jesus Christ alone, to defend the truth of the gospel he has deposited to them, and to encourage them that they may know that they have eternal life. Our desires are both our greatest strength and our greatest weakness. Beneath every good deed is an foundational desire, and beneath every sin is an unruly desire.
