You can be a dream maker and follow your dreams. Or you can be a risk taker and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. God is looking for risk-takers, not excuse-makers. A risk-taker is dedicated to the mission of growing to spiritual maturity and is prepared to be used by the Lord. “Here am I, send me” (Is 6:8). Stay filled with the Holy Spirit and make learning and applying the Word of God a daily priority. A risk-taker uses the Word of God, a divine viewpoint, to control his life. If you don’t control your life, other people or circumstances will. A risk-taker is willing to take the point and lead out. If you are going to follow the Lord, you can’t put a premium on security. To be a risk taker you need to get in the boat. Following Jesus Christ means you live by His example. “Because of this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that you should follow in His steps” (1 Pet 2:21). A risk-taker may be marked by sorrow, but his life is always defined by joy. “I trust You. My times are in Your hands” (Ps 31:14-15).
