Hard to imagine getting anything done without money. Yet, Peter without a nickel in his pocket invited a man to stand and walk for the first time in his life. Wow, the ministry of the Kingdom with no money exchanged!

What motivated the first century community of Jews following Jesus to sell their excess property and possessions to contribute to the needs of others?

The Holy Spirit filled Peter with power, power to witness, to tell of God's mighty works through Jesus. 3000 responded to Peter's empowered witness. 3000 changed their minds about Jesus. 3000 were baptized demonstrating their identity with the death and resurrection of Jesus. 3000 were added to the community of 120 following Jesus.

The Holy Spirit came with power. Peter filled with that power preached a short, spontaneous message. The crowd listening was "cut to the quick," convicted, asking, "What do we do now?" Peter answered in a word, "Convert."

Jesus promised the Holy Spirit and power. Both came in an unexpected moment. The crowd didn't know what to think. Are they drunk? What is this?
