After exile, one man devotes himself to studying, living, and teaching God's word. Renewal starts small.Ezra models the restoration pattern: reconnecting to God through Scripture, and then drawing others into that reconnection. The mission restarts through one person's faithfulness.

Solomon prays that foreigners who come to the temple will be heard. The mission was never just for insiders — and Solomon, for all his failures, knew it.Solomon's dedicatory prayer is one of the OT's most explicit missio Dei moments: God's house was meant to be a house for all peoples. 1 Chronicles provides the parallel account and the theological framing of the Davidic era.

Israel demands a king like every other nation. God says: "You're rejecting me." They get their king anyway.The mission nearly derails when God's people want to look like everyone else. 8:4-9 is dramatic and narratively rich — the tension of the entire kingdom experiment begins here.

The people fail, God sends a rescuer. They fail again, he sends another. Why won't he give up?The cycle-of-judges reveals God's relentless, almost stubborn refusal to abandon the mission. He keeps working through flawed humans — because the working-through is itself the restoration.

You can't inherit someone else's faith. At some point, you have to choose for yourself. Speaks to anyone — the skeptic who never believed, the lifelong churchgoer whose faith has been secondhand, the parent wondering if their kids will own this. The design requires a personal yes.

Remember what it felt like to have nothing. Now build a society that protects those who have nothing. Micah 6:8 God's people are formed into a justice-practicing community because they were once vulnerable themselves. The experience of being rescued becomes the motivation for rescuing others.

God designed his blessing to flow through his people to the world. The question is: will they carry it, or hold it for themselves? The Aaronic blessing reveals God's intent — blessing that moves outward. Pair with the Num 14 failure: when God's people refuse to move, the blessing stalls. Both are missio Dei.

God hears suffering and comes down. He doesn't send a memo — he shows up and calls a man to lead the rescue.God's mission is never remote. He enters the pain, and then draws a reluctant human (Moses) into the work. The rescue restores the rescuer. "Comes down" foreshadows the incarnation.

God's answer to a broken world isn't to start over. It's to choose one family and through them bless every family on earth.The Abrahamic covenant is the launchpad of God's restorative mission. God works through a human to reach all humans — and calling Abraham is itself what reconnects Abraham to God.

God's purpose from the beginning was a world where humans thrive in relationship with him. We walked away from that design.The mission starts here: God creates with purpose, and the fracture sets up the need for everything that follows. The design — humans made for God — is the foundation of the entire series.
