The marks of a right relationship with the Father are seen in Yeshua's example: relying, experiencing, and imitating Abba. These are not standards to measure up to, but are signs of the new nature we’ve been given freely by Abba in Christ through the Holy Spirit. Our new nature reflects the presence and light of the Father, which is our new point of origin. Abba doesn’t use guilt to drive our relationship; instead, His kindness washes away guilt and transforms our thinking.

This new perspective of who He is stirs in us a desire to trust, be known by, and obey Him—ultimately, a desire to be loved by Him. The gospel is about believing, not doing. Through belief, His life flows through us!

Jesus did not change the Father’s mind about us, He revealed the Father’s heart towards us. A heart that would pay the highest price to get us back, hold no record of wrongs, remove our sins as far as east is from the west, and preserve our inheritance for us.

The seven nations of Canaan are symbolic of the enemies of our hearts rest. In partnering with the Holy Spirit, He gives  us everything that Jesus has accomplished for us through the resurrection. Honor, receive, and celebrate this freedom! There is joyful repentance on offer!

Hittites - “terror, dread” - Spirit/influence of harshness, religion, condemnation

Girgashites - “dwellers in clay, dense” - Spirit/influence of pride, entitlement, insecurity

Amorites - “talker, slayer” - Spirit/influence of accusation, misidentification

Perizzites - “without walls, rustic” - Spirit/influence of despair

Hivites - “beastly life, pronouncer” - Spirit/influence of independence or self reliance

We have been given the invitation from Jesus to repent, follow Him, and receive the Gospel by grace through trusting in the one true God. Jesus made it clear that he became like us that we may become like Him. This is an impossible task for man to fulfill - we do not posses the strength, willpower, or the appropriate understanding to strive our way into the image of Jesus. However, by the Spirit whom Jesus has sent, He who starts a good work in us is faithful to complete it.

Through the Holy Spirit, we are restored to our former state of childlikeness—seeking, thirsting, and longing for His Presence and perfect union. This is not just the "right" way to live or something we can manufacture on our own, it happens when we receive revelation of who the Father is and how deeply He loves us. We were designed to be obsessed with Him. Obsession is when our soul is seeking, thirsting and longing after Him every day of our lives!
