As we explore the first chapter of the book of Haggai, we're asked the question: "What's more important than our allegiance to God?"
Haggai 1:1-15
A pattern is revealed throughout the whole Bible where humans flourish as they stop to enjoy and trust in God's provision. We're invited to enter into the good life here and now as we anticipate ultimate rest when God makes all things new.Mark 2:23-27
Jesus was nourished, even when he was hungry, as he obeyed the will of his Father. Jesus invites us too, into this same lifestyle of worship and mission.John 4:1-42
Jesus said that he came to bring fullness of life to all. He desires that none of us would be robbed of this life but experience his leading and freedom in our lives here and now!
Jesus invited a rich young man to sell his possessions, give to the poor and follow him. For each of us, we're invited into the good life as we lay down what we treasure most and choose Jesus and his Kingdom first.
Jesus invites us to seek times of solitude with God the Father. In these times, the noise of life can fade away and we can experience God's presence, perspective and power.
Jesus teaches us that when we hear and actually do what he taught, we're like a wise person who builds a house on sturdy ground.
Jesus offers us a new way of life. He calls it the good life and teaches that this life that he offers is near at hand and available to us all.
As peacemakers, we are invited to be people of reconciliation in all the world. Followers of Jesus are given a message and ministry of reconciliation.
