In 1 John. 2:3-6, the writer says in verse three, "We know him." How well do you know Jesus Christ? John, the human penman for this epistle, knew the Lord Jesus. Their mothers were sisters. There is no doubt that they had an acquaintance because of that relationship, but there was more to it than that earthly acquaintance.

Jesus is revealed as the Lamb of God sent by the Father to deal fully with the problem of sin. He came not merely to teach or lead, but to offer Himself as the sacrifice God had provided from the beginning. His worth and authority rest in who He is, the eternal Son of God marked by the Spirit and approved by heaven. Through Him, sin is not merely covered but taken away, and God’s plan of redemption is made clear to the world.

John 1:19-28

God raised up a faithful witness whose purpose was not to draw attention to himself but to point others to Christ. When questioned by religious leaders, he refused every title that would elevate him and identified himself only as a voice preparing the way for the Lord. His message confronted pride, exposed false confidence in religion, and called people to repentance. Even while standing before those who claimed spiritual authority, he directed their eyes to Christ already present among them, reminding all that true authority belongs to Him alone.

John 1:14-18

The eternal Son of God entered the world by becoming fully man while remaining fully God, bringing God near rather than distant. In taking on flesh, He revealed the heart of the Father, displaying divine glory through humility, compassion, and truth. He lived among people so they could know God personally, not through symbols or shadows, but through a living Person. In Him, grace and truth are perfectly united, providing everything needed for forgiveness, life, and understanding of God. What was once unseen and unreachable has been made known through Christ, who alone reveals God as He truly is.

The book of 1 John is written to Christians; it is a message about God's faithfulness to His children. Read 1 John 2:1-2 and take special notice of the expression in verse one, "We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

2 Chronicles 33:1-13

Knowing God is not proven by upbringing, opportunity, or outward religion buy by a heart that responds to Him in humility. A person can reject truth, abuse privilege, and into deep rebellion, yet God remains willing to speak and ready to forgive. When pride refuses to listen, affliction may become the means God uses to bring the heart low, not to destroy but to restore. When a person finally recognizes who God is and turns to Him in humility, mercy is still available even from the lowest place.

John 1:6-13

God sent the Light into the world so that men might know Him, yet the world rejected what it did not want to receive. The Light shone clearly through Christ, revealing God, exposing darkness, and offering life, but many turned away even when faced with truth. Still, rejection did not stop God's purpose. To all who receive Christ by faith, God grants that authority to become His children through a new birth that comes only from Him. Salvation is not achieved by heritage, effort, or religion, but by God's power at work in the heart of those who believe.

John 1:1-5

Jesus Christ is eternal and fully God, existing before all things and standing as the Creator of everything that exists. Life itself flows from Him, and that life shines as light into a dark world that resists and rejects it. He is not a created being or a lesser expression of God, but God Himself made known. All creation testifies to His power, and every person is accountable for how they respond to the light He gives. The tragedy of humanity is not the absence of light, but the refusal to receive it, even as Christ continues to shine in truth, grace, and redemption.

The Lord is the light. Notice what God's Word says in 1 John 1:3-7. We read in verse five, "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." Because God is light, He provides the light we need for our daily walk. The Christian life is a journey through earth to glory. It is the light of the Lord that enables us to make the journey victoriously. The key work in this epistle is "fellowship."

The Word of Life is one of the wonderful titles given to our Lord Jesus Christ. The powerful purpose of the Bible is to reveal the Word of Life to us. As the Lord opens for us the first epistle of John, we find how quickly He leads us to the Word of Life. The things we find in this epistle are written to believers who "...believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God" (1 John 5:13).
