Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) - It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

God wants us to seek Him out; for it is when we start to look for Him that he finds us. But how we search for him is determined by the desires of our heart. So we have to ask ourselves ‘how is my heart?’ Is it distracted by the things of this world, or is it whole-heartedly searching for God?

Sometimes we put distance between ourselves and God and end up missing out on the intimacy He has invited us to enjoy with Him. When we are far from God he comes looking for us and, with gentleness and kindness, calls us back to the place of close relationship with Him.

Human love is limited by the filters and qualifiers we put on who we love and how we love. Jesus demonstrates God’s unlimited love to us. We need to fill ourselves with God’s love so we can live out that love and transform our lives and the lives of others.

We don’t always see people the way God does - as made in His image. Christ calls us to a higher and better way of seeing people and helps us examine our assumptions and fears that getting in the way of us loving and treating all people the same.

God’s love is a powerful force for change in the world. We get to experience and enjoy it as well as share it with others. This is a significant part of what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Leadership has become a dominating theme of our culture. We tend to think of leadership in terms of those who lead countries or corporations; those who lead in times of crisis and upheaval; those who lead and fail in the public arena. But how many of us are comfortable defining ourselves as leaders? There are many moments in our lives, big and small, where we lead others. So in those moments, how do we lead well?

Jesus is a fantastic example of what it is to be a servant. But He also shows us that there is an inseparable connection between the call to lead and the call to serve. In order to lead, you must understand that leadership is not about power, position, privilege or prestige – it is all about service to others.
