Yesterday, my family and I embarked on a special outing to Connaught Place, a bustling commercial hub in the heart of Delhi. The purpose of our visit was to celebrate my mother’s birthday, and we wanted to make it a memorable day for her. To add to the joyous occasion, we also invited my paternal aunt, as her presence always completes our family.

With our spirits high, we set off towards Connaught Place. On our way, we couldn’t help but notice the vibrant posters and banners adorning the streets. They were announcing the upcoming G20 meeting, a gathering of 20 influential countries, which was set to take place in Delhi. The authorities had taken extra measures to ensure that the streets of Connaught Place looked its best for the international delegates who would soon arrive.

Another noticeable change was the absence of beggars on the streets. In an effort to create a safe and welcoming environment for the G20 meeting at Pragati Maidan on 9 September, the authorities had relocated the beggars to a designated area. This step not only ensured the security of the delegates but also provided a temporary solution for the marginalised individuals who rely on begging as their means of survival.

Our first destination was the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir, a renowned Hindu temple in Connaught Place, known for its ancient history. It holds great significance for my mother as she is a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman. According to popular beliefs, the famous Bhakti saint Tulsidas ji had visited this temple during his trip to Delhi and experienced the divine presence of Bajrang Bali, the child form of Lord Hanuman.

Mesmerised by this encounter, Tulsidas ji composed the Hanuman Chalisa, a sacred hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman. As we entered the temple, the serene atmosphere and the enchanting chants filled our hearts with tranquility and devotion. We offered our prayers to Lord Hanuman, seeking his blessings for strength, courage and purity of our souls.

After the temple visit, our appetites led us to the famous Jain Chawal Wale, a local eatery known for its delectable Rajma Chawal. We eagerly ordered two plates and savoured every bite. The aroma and taste of the freshly cooked meal were simply irresistible, leaving us fully satisfied and energised for the rest of our expedition. As we enjoyed our meal together, laughter and conversations filled the air, creating beautiful memories that would forever be etched in our hearts. We also had cola flavour ice popsicles which gave us a temporary relief from the hot and sunny day.

Next, we proceeded to Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib, a significant place of worship for the Sikh community and a popular tourist spot. This 17th-century shrine is dedicated to the memory of Guru Har Krishan, the eighth Sikh Guru. The magnificent architecture and serene ambiance of the gurudwara immediately captivated us. While entering inside, covering the head was mandatory and they had dedicated volunteers and staffs who ensures that everyone wears a headscarf available in the boxes.

We immersed ourselves in the soothing prayers, feeling a sense of unity and spirituality in the air. The langar, a community kitchen serving free meals to all visitors, showcased the values of equality and selfless service that Sikhism upholds. The highlight of our visit was the huge artificial pond, where we witnessed the playful movements of colourful fishes and saw children joyfully dipping their feet in the water.

Our journey continued as we visited the Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Church, an architectural marvel and one of my favourite places in Connaught Place. This historic church, built in the 1930s, exudes grandeur and tranquility in equal measure. The stillness of the church was punctuated only by the soft flickering of a candle, casting a warm glow on the statue of Jesus Christ.

In that moment, we felt a deep sense of peace and connection, as if the worries and stresses of the outside world had momentarily faded away. Upon stepping outside, we lit candles, illuminating our hopes and aspirations. As we prepared to leave, the melodious sound of the 5 p.m prayer bell echoed through the church, creating a magical moment we will always cherish.

Our final stop was the TTD Tirupati Balaji Temple, where we sought the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara. The temple’s architecture is a true marvel, showcasing the Dravidian style with intricate carvings and sculptures. One of the highlights of our visit, was participating in the various rituals and ceremonies conducted at the temple. The priests, dressed in traditional attire, performed the sacred rituals with utmost devotion and precision. The rhythmic chants and the fragnance of incense filled the air, creating a truly ethereal experience.

Moreover, the temple also offers Annadanam program which provides free meals to thousands of devotees every day, promoting the spirit of selfless service and compassion. It is believed that attending the annual Brahmotsavam festival and witnessing the grandeur of the deities’ processions brings immense blessings and good fortune.

In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, places of worship like these serves as a reminder of the eternal presence of a higher power. Our visit to Connaught Place was not just a journey of physical exploration but a soulful experience that rejuvenated our spirits and left us with a sense of profound gratitude.

As the day drew to a close, we bid farewell to Connaught Place, cherishing the memories we had created together. Celebrating my mother’s birthday was truly an unforgettable experience, that will forever hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the importance of love, faith and togetherness.

Birthdays have never been a big deal to me personally, but I realized the significance of this occasion yesterday. I had the opportunity to surprise my school best friends’, who happen to be twin sisters, on their 18th birthday. Despite being born on the same day, Akansha and Arushi, both have unique looks and distinct personalities.

As my besties were not expecting me to attend their birthday celebration, I decided to keep my arrival a secret. I had initially informed them that I would not be able to make it, claiming that I was not at home. However, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to celebrate their last birthday together before they embark on their journey to Charles Darwin University in Australia next month.

When I initially planned to surprise them with a cake, I discovered that they had already celebrated their birthday eve with their childhood neighbourhood friends, cutting three different cakes. Knowing their love for makeup, I decided to gift them a set of high-quality makeup products by selecting something that aligned with their interests. I wanted to ensure that they feel appreciated and cherished on this special day.

As the scorching sun blazed outside, we decided to spent a few hours indoors together, reminiscing and catching up on each other’s life. In the evening, we decided to visit a nearby Janmashtami carnival, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. The vibrant atmosphere and the lively crowd instantly uplifted our spirits. The carnival was filled with various rides, games, and food stalls, promising loads of fun and excitement.

Our first stop was the Ferris wheel, which costed us 100 INR each, standing tall against the clear blue sky. As we ascended higher and higher, we marveled at the breathtaking view of the carnival and the surrounding area. We laughed and screamed with joy, cherishing the experience and the bond we shared as bestfriends.

Next we decided to try the Columbus ride, known for its exhilarating spins and twists. It costed us 150 INR. Akansha didn’t join us as she felt a sudden headache after the first ride. As the Columbus ride started, our hearts raced with excitement. The feeling of weightlessness as the ride spun us around made us scream with delight. We held onto each other tightly, sharing a mixture of fear and happiness.

After the thrilling rides, we craved something sweet to cool us down. We came across the Famous Turkish Ice-cream. It costed us 150 INR each. The vendor challenged us to a competition. The challenge was to touch or hold the cone without taking a bite, while the vendor tried to trick us with his clever moves. We eagerly accepted the challenge, and the vendor began his tricks. He would tilt the cone precariously, and perform hilarious antics to confuse us. Each time, we burst into fits of laughter, unable to resist his playful tricks. The challenge brought our competitive sides, but more importantly, it created a lighthearted and joyous atmosphere that made the experience even more memorable.

Attending my best friends’ birthday celebration was an absolute blast. It allowed us to create cherished memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. Although I am not particularly fond of birthdays, but after witnessing their happiness and gratitude made me realize the significance of celebrating such occasions.

Yesterday, accompanied by my father and brother, I visited The Grand Venice Mall in Greater Noida. The journey from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh took us approximately two hours, but the excitement of exploring a mall based on the Italian concept made the time fly by.

The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a breathtaking sight of Venetian-style facades. The attention to detail was impeccable, as every corner of the mall exuded the essence of Venetian architecture. While my father was browsing through the fresh collection of U.S. Polo Assn., my brother and I admired the mall’s unique ambiance. The architectural marvels and intricate details transported us to the enchanting streets of Italy.

My father, then came, and captured my brother and me at the replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. After exploring the mall for a while, our rumbling stomachs led us to Haldiram’s, a renowned Indian restaurant. We relished a scrumptious meal, savoring the flavours of various delicacies. The restaurant’s warm atmosphere and friendly staff added to the overall delightful experience.

Excitedly, my brother and I, then went to the famous Gondola Ride, which costed us 400 INR each and eagerly boarded the beautiful gondola. The gondolier, serenaded us with cheerful melodies as we glided through the artificial canal. The gentle rocking motion and the soothing sound of water created a tranquil ambiance, reminiscent of the real gondolas in Venice.

We couldn’t explore more rides as the evening sun started to dip and it was time to head back home. But it was truly a remarkable experience, and we left with our hearts full of joy and a desire to return for another adventures.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting the National Rail Museum in Chanakyapuri with my family. From the vibrant vendor stalls outside to the impressive collection of locomotives and artifacts inside, the museum provided a captivating glimpse into the world of trains.

Upon entering the gate, we were greeted by a guide map that helped us navigate through the vast exhibition. The first sight that caught our attention was the magnificent red and black steam locomotive, MTR-2 with an oversize chimney. Built in 1910, its imposing presence symbolized the power and grandeur of the railways. As we walked further, we discovered the John Morris Fire Engine of 1914, which gave us a fascinating insight into the firefighting techniques of that era. The detailed display provided information about the manufacturers, awards, engine tires, speed, and various fire equipment used during that time.

Few metres away, we saw a souvenir shop, where I purchased a Magic Mug, priced at 300 INR. It served as a delightful reminder of our memorable trip to the museum. Moving on, we encountered the EIR-22 Fairy Queen, a steam locomotive from 1855, and the Ramgotty Steam Loco from 1862. These relics transported us back in time, allowing us to appreciate the technological advancements that have shaped the Indian Railway system.

Entering the museum, the first exhibit that caught my attention was the Miraj Station Clock Maker Benson London 1926. This antique clock, with its intricate design and precise timekeeping, symbolized the importance of punctuality in the railway system. Then I encountered the Rocket Steam Loco of 1829, which represented a significant milestone in the development of steam-powered engines.

Moving further into the museum, the Mahatma Gandhi Asthi Car and the Iron Chest stood out. The former was a poignant reminder of Gandhi’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle. This specially designed railway carriage carried his ashes across the country, allowing millions of people to pay their respects. On the other hand, the iron chest built in 1885, emphasized the trust placed in the railways to safeguard precious cargo.

As I ventured further, I was in awe of the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge. The model showcased the engineering marvel that connects Jammu and Kashmir, defying geographical barriers. The museum also provided a comprehensive display of various signaling systems used in the Indian railways. From the ciruit breaker to the hand signals and the shunt signals, each model elucidated the intricate mechanisms employed to ensure safety and smooth operation of trains.

Then i came across the Ferry Ship SS Hardinge, a remarkable vessel served as a crucial link between railways and waterways, facilitating transportation across rivers and lakes. Also, the steam locomotives on display, such as the steam loco YP 2522, and steam loco MSM 777 W Class, capture the essence of a bygone era. These magnificent machines were the backbone of India’s railway system, propelling the nation’s industrial and economic growth.

The Composite Coach BNWR- 247 1st Class represents the opulence and grandeur associated with train travel during the colonial era. This exquisite coach showcases the luxurious amenities and elegant interiors that were reserved for the elite. As we continued our exploration, the rail museums of India and the Indian builder and number plates showcased at the museum demonstrate the diversity and uniqueness of the country’s railway network. Each state had its own railway system, characterised by distinct builder and number plates.

One of the intriguing artifacts we encountered were the metal passes used by VIPs during the division of the railway into different state railways. These passes hold historical significance as they reflect the administrative changes that occurred within the railway system.

As we arrived at the museum junction, we were greeted by the sight of a joy train, brimming with excited passengers. Upon boarding the joy train, we settled in the first coach, eagerly anticipating the journey ahead. The train incharge soon arrived to check our ticket, ensuring a smooth and organized trip. As the train embarked on its journey, we found ourselves captivated by the picturesque surroundings. The lush greenery and the vibrant landscapes served as a serene backdrop, allowing us to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Our day at the National Rail Museum was truly awesome, combining education with excitement. It provided an ideal platform for families to bond while learning about the country’s railway heritage. I believe that one should definitely visit this museum to gain a deeper understanding of railways and enjoy a day filled with thrilled adventure.

Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Vrindavan, a sacred city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, with my beloved family. Our group consisted of my grandfather, father, mother, paternal aunt, brother, and myself.

Our first stop was at Dabchick Hodal, Bhulwana, Haryana, a quaint rest house on our way to Vrindavan. We decided to take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings for a while before continuing our journey. The peaceful ambiance of the place rejuvenated our spirits and prepared us for the spiritual journey that awaited us.

Excitement filled the air as we reached the renowned Banke Bihari Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna. We were astounded by the massive crowd gathered in front of the idol of Lord Krishna. The priest skillfully opened and closed the curtain repeatedly, revealing glimpses of the divine deity. The devotion and fervor of the devotees were palpable, creating an atmosphere charged with spiritual energy.

Next, we visited the Shri Radhavallabh Lal Ji Temple, another significant place of worship in Vrindavan. The temple’s serene ambiance and the devotion of the devotees were truly awe-inspiring. We offered our prayers and sought blessings from the divine deity, feeling a sense of tranquility wash over us.

Our accommodation for the trip was at Sukhdham Bhawan, a hotel where my father and grandfather served as trustees. After settling in and securing our rooms, we decided to explore the beautiful garden surrounding the Bhawan. The sun shone brightly, illuminating the vibrant flowers and lush greenery. We captured these picturesque moments, preserving them as cherished memories.

The following day, we embarked on a visit to the Maa Vaishno Devi Temple in Vrindavan. The temple was nestled amidst picturesque surroundings, and the path leading to it consisted of caves that served as stairs. As we traversed through these caves, we gradually distanced ourselves from the idol. However, upon exiting the caves, we found ourselves in close proximity to the magnificent idol of Goddess Vaishno Devi.

We took respite near a fountain, where we discovered an exhibition centre showcasing the evolution of the idol over time. It was fascinating to witness the intricate craftsmanship and the devotion poured into creating such a divine representation. This experience deepened our understanding and appreciation for the artistry and devotion that goes into the making of these sacred idols.

Another significant temple we visited was the Shri Priyakant Ju Temple. We explored the temple premises. The temple’s magnificent fountains and intricate architecture left us mesmerized. One particular highlight was venturing into the cave, marveling at the intricate carvings and the divine sculptures. The darkness within the cave heightened our sense of spirituality, as we felt the divine presence surrounding us.

Our next destination was the Iskcon Temple, a renowned spiritual centre in Vrindavan. We were greeted by the soul-stirring chants and dance of devotees and foreigners alike. The harmonious singing and rhythmic dancing formed a circle of unity and devotion. We were fortunate to receive charnamrit as Prasad, a sacred offering, which filled our hearts with divine blessings. Before leaving, we purchased jasmine perfume and saffron musk incense sticks. It was a humbling experience, reminding us of the universal love and devotion that transcends boundaries.

As night fell, we made our way to the Prem Mandir, a temple known for its enchanting light displays. The temple’s magnificent architecture illuminated in various colours, captivating our senses. It was adorned with intricately carved sculptures and written engravings depicting various divine stories. Despite the large crowd present, we felt a sense of tranquility and unity among everyone gathered there.

After a day filled with spiritual exploration, we returned to our hotel, exhausted yet content. We rested peacefully, relishing the divine experiences we had encountered throughout the day. The next morning, we attended the morning aarti at our hotel’s temple, seeking blessings and expressing gratitude for the beautiful journey we had undertaken.

With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Vrindavan and began our journey back home. The memories we made and the spiritual connections we forged will forever remain etched in our minds, guiding us on the path of righteousness.
