If anyone can comment on the state of the local and network television relationship, it's Scot Chastain.
He's worked both sides of the fence for years -- At affiliates for NBC, CBS, ABC, CW and PBS in a wide range of positions including marketing and most recently as the Vice President and General Manager at Nextstar's FOX affiliate in Sacramento.
He also ran NBC's affiliate marketing department where he had a hand in launching some of the network's most successful shows. Overachiever? Yep!
Scot tells us how he made the leap from creative guy to general manager guy, where he thinks the broadcasting industry is headed and where HE is headed NEXT. Here's a hint - it means we now MIGHT have a pretty sweet hookup for court side seats at a Utah Jazz game!

We have a marketing powerhouse in the bunker!
Steve Kazanjian is the former President and CEO of PROMAX - the global non-profit association for all of us in the creative marketing of television and video content biz.
But he's here with us today to specifically talk about the process of "personal branding" - because all smart marketers climbing up their corporate ladders know that to SUCCEED, you need to know WHO you are and WHAT you and ONLY you, bring to the table!
Plus, he'll share his views on how the role of entertainment marketing has evolved, where it's headed and what he thinks are the three biggest issues we all now face.
And in our "Finish That Sentence" segment, Steve demonstrates a hidden talent that is truly "unique!"

Hollywood media research guru and super fan of the pod - Eric Steinberg joins us in the bunker!
As the former SVP of research at CBS - he'll pull back the curtain and share the strategic and creative moves that took a so-so -performing comedy called "The Big Bang Theory" and made it into one of the biggest shows on the planet.
We'll also dig into some juicy topics like - how does research differ between traditional networks and streamers? What are the most effective methods for collecting and analyzing audience data these days? What trends are emerging in terms of audience behavior and preferences?
And because it's Upfront season (and because we just LOVE a fun challenge) we play "guess that cancelled pilot!"
Who knew all this research stuff could be so interesting?
(Eric, that's who!)

Terry Botwick is a multiple award-winning producer, studio and network exec and now CEO and Founder of Papatime - a film and television production company with more than a dozen projects in development.
As a person of faith with an interest in creating what is loosely dubbed as "inspirational programming" - Terry pulls no punches when we discuss how Hollywood and members of the Christian community could do a MUCH better job partnering with one another to produce mutually beneficial content.
Plus, how do you pitch a faith-based movie to a secular studio? What are some common misconceptions about so-called "Christian" films? And how does he REALLY feel about organizations like the "Parent Television Council?"
All that and more...take a listen!

Accomplished leader in the direct-to-consumer, media, and technology industries...and an excellent secret-keeper, Mark DeBevoise brings his big brain into the bunker and drops a few juicy tidbits.
Like - before there was Disney+ and Peacock...he was behind the creation of a secret streaming service - known only by it's cool code name, "Project Subway." That highly classified project eventually became known as CBS ALL ACCESS...which is now PARAMOUNT+.
Also - We'll get his thoughts on the current business of streaming...will it ever become profitable? Will viewers have to navigate dozens and dozens of apps, endure increasing monthly subscription fees AND sit through commercials? Is linear tv dead or does it still have a pulse?
Lastly, Marc downloads us on his exciting new streaming technology company called BRIGHTCOVE, takes a listener question and plays "Finish That Sentence."
We felt much smarter after his visit...bet you will too!
