As I enter a new era of the RN PREP Podcast, I'm thrilled to introduce you to an new organization that is very near and dear to my heart: the Coalition for Nurse Well-Being (CNWB). In this episode I chat with Dr. Kevin Letz, the Founder and CEO - and general great guy - about the development and vision for the amazing non-profit. You can learn more about the orgnization, including how to become a member, here. https://www.happymedicine.org/cnwb
The nursing faculty shortage is a critical component in addressing the nursing shortage. The inability to recruit and retain competent faculty is a cultural phenomenon, stemming from systems issues that frequently contribute to faculty burnout and moral distress. The novice faculty member often enters academia unprepared for the faculty tripartite role, and often encountering a less-than healthy work environment. This podcast episode focuses on a recent article exploring the novice faculty members' transition to academia, with excellent information for both the organization that wants to improve this process AND for the novice educator seeking to make an informed career decision.
Watch and listen as I describe the future iterations of RN P.R.E.P.!
I'm excited to share that I am relaunching the RN P.R.E.P. Podcast with a specific focus on Resilience in Nursing Academia!
I'm catching up with Marissa Bartmess two years after our initial conversation, learning about her journey to a PhD and how she managed to navigate life, work, and school during a pandemic.
Marissa Bartmess, one of my former students, describes her journey in nursing, beginning as a BSN student to her current role as a practicing RN and PhD Student. Her story will resonate with many who are considering a doctoral degree, as well as those seeking to join the new generation of nurse leaders emerging to radically transform the culture of nursing and nursing academia.
What is RESILIENCE? This "nibble" defines and describes the concept of resilience as it pertains to nurses and healthcare professionals. We also chat a bit about what it is NOT. You may be surprised:)
