We're back!! Welcome to RN Right Now as Hilary and Salma recap their most memorable moments of 2021-2022. There‘s more information out there than you need right now. Which vaccine to get, who can get it, where to get it? We tackle some of these questions with some answers to help you sift, and sort through the madness. We also share some of our favorite myths and memes on the subject.
You graduated and you thought nursing school was rough, but then you have the realization that now you’re going to be a newbie on the job. What can be scarier than that? Besides the vomit, bowel movements, pimple popping, and ugly feet, you get to hear our gross and scary stories from working in a hospital as a new grad..
What a year 2020 has been. From cooking trends, to working/schooling from home, and oh yeah- that thing called COVID-19. Although it was rough at times we all made it. We take a look back at 2020 and give a preview of what we hope to bring to 2021. Can’t wait to begin this new year with all of you!
The holidays are a time to enjoy with friends and family. Although this year may be a little different, we talk about how we spend the holidays as nurses. From gift exchanges, holiday shifts, holiday parties, and of course the holiday food. We top off this episode with our special guests Tu, the nursing student, and Mara, the new grad. They give us their perspectives on their stages of being and becoming a nurse.
Can you smell the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy? Not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving with the traditional fixings. KFC with rice-now that’s a holiday meal, (just ask Hilary). We had to get in some food talk before discussing how zoom university has changed the learning game in 2020. Like it or not, zoom university might be here to stay.
Your hairs a mess, your nails are a mess, your back hurts, you haven’t had time to work out, you’re stressed, and you feel like your life is being pulled in 10 different directions. Sound familiar? We were nursing students and we’ve been there, and we still experience this as working nurses. Find out what we do for self-care and feel free to DM us or comment on our IG post what you do for self-care.
Balance is key to surviving nursing school. We’ve all had that moment of, “I’m totally going to fail this class.” We recount our moments of near fails, and discuss missing out on weddings, engagements, baby showers, graduations, and just hanging out with friends and family. It may not seem like it but you can find small ways to not cancel your social life altogether.
You’ve started nursing school and you have all the tools you need to succeed. Nursing school will be a breeze for some (said no one ever 😃), and a low-key soap opera for others. We look at managing stress, taking time for yourself, and how to link up with classmates for much needed support and study time.
