A Tasman District councillor has raised a few eyebrows for attending most meetings over Zoom or Teams despite living minutes away from the council buildings. According to figures obtained by the Nelson Mail, in the last triennium, Mark Greening attended three meetings in person and 73 meetings online. We asked Mr Greening to come on the show.. he declined saying he's busy and struggles to see why it's a big deal, adding remote access provides good flexibility. Aucklanders' rates bills are set to rise by an average of 7 point 9 percent. Councillors voted yesterday to accept the annual budget proposed by Mayor Wayne Brown, which sets an ambitious target of cutting operating costs by one-hundred and six million dollars. But the vote wasn't without heated debate on whether even more savings could be found. Erin Johnson reports.
