Iranian Drones?

Well… the show took that famous left turn at Albuquerque and landed somewhere nobody expected.

Instead of sticking to the original rundown, the conversation drifted into a new concern making the rounds online — the idea that Iranian drones could potentially infiltrate California airspace.

Now the theory comes out of growing tensions with Iran and the rapid expansion of drone technology. Smaller unmanned aircraft are becoming cheaper, harder to track, and easier to deploy. That’s raised questions about whether foreign actors could use them for surveillance… or worse.

But as with many things in today’s media environment, the line between legitimate security concern and internet speculation can get blurry fast.

The reality is that the U.S. military and homeland security agencies already track airspace threats constantly, and California’s skies aren’t exactly unmonitored.

Still, when the conversation turns to drones, foreign adversaries, and the world’s fifth-largest economy sitting right on the Pacific coast…

people start asking questions.

And on Road Rage 101, when people start asking questions, the conversation tends to take on a life of its own.

For decades we’ve been told there are two completely different worlds in American politics.

On one side you’ve got billionaire activist George Soros, the boogeyman of the political right.

On the other side you’ve got industrialist Charles Koch, the villain of the political left.

Two ideological titans.

Two opposite agendas.

Two sides locked in eternal battle… right?

But here’s where things start to get interesting.

Because behind the scenes, there have been moments where these two political empires have actually worked together on the same policy goals — everything from criminal justice reform to opposition to certain government surveillance programs.

Which raises a slightly uncomfortable thought.

What if the public fight we see on television isn’t always the real story?

What if the political battlefield we argue over every day is more like a stage — and the biggest players occasionally agree on far more than they admit?

That’s where our thumbnail metaphor comes in.

Two giants at the table.

One shared meal.

And the meatstick on the plate?

Well… that might just be us.

Because as long as the crowd keeps arguing with each other, the people at the top never have to worry about the dinner ending.

And if they both finish the meal…

Don’t be surprised if the two sides suddenly realize they’re a lot closer than everyone thought.

What Happened to “No New Wars”?

Remember that campaign promise we kept hearing about?

“No new wars.” Short. Simple. Sounds great on a bumper sticker.

But reality tends to show up and mess with campaign slogans.

Recent reporting suggests that any decision to end the current conflict involving Israel will be mutual between Washington and Israeli leadership, particularly Benjamin Netanyahu.

In other words, the U.S. may not be driving the bus alone on whether things calm down or keep heating up.

Now politically speaking, that creates a bit of a messaging problem.

Because the “No New Wars” line was meant to signal a break from the endless cycle of American involvement in overseas conflicts.

Yet here we are again, watching the Middle East dominate headlines while Washington walks the tightrope between diplomacy, alliances, and the very real possibility of escalation.

And that leaves a lot of voters scratching their heads and asking a pretty straightforward question.

If the promise was no new wars…

why does it suddenly feel like we’re once again standing in the middle of a geopolitical powder keg?

Sometimes foreign policy doesn’t read like a campaign speech.

Sometimes it reads more like a Mad Magazine plot twist.

And the punchline might just be:

“Well… that escalated quickly.”

Reports are circulating that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran’s long-time Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, may be next in line to run the Islamic Republic.

Yes… next in line.

Because apparently the revolutionary government that spent decades lecturing the world about corrupt Western power structures might now be doing something that looks suspiciously like a family handoff.

Meet Mojtaba Khamenei.

He’s not exactly a household name, mostly operating behind the scenes with strong ties to Iran’s security establishment and the powerful Revolutionary Guard.

But according to reports, the quiet son in the background could soon be the guy sitting at the top of the clerical pyramid.

And that raises a very simple question.

If the Supreme Leader’s son becomes the next Supreme Leader…

is that still a revolution?

or is it starting to look a little more like a monarchy with extra paperwork?

Either way, somewhere in Tehran there may be a guy realizing the spotlight is about to hit him.

The Great Collectible Crash

Over the last century Americans have chased countless collectibles that were marketed as rare investments destined to grow in value. From Beanie Babies and baseball cards to figurines, collector plates, and Longaberger baskets, entire industries were built around the idea that scarcity and nostalgia would one day make these items valuable.

In reality many of these products were produced in enormous quantities. As collecting trends faded and the original buyers began downsizing, markets were flooded with items that once sat proudly in display cabinets. Today many of those “investments” sell for only a few dollars — if they sell at all.

Examples include Beanie Babies from the 1990s bubble, overprinted baseball cards from the 1980s and 1990s, Hummel and Precious Moments figurines, collector plates, holiday Barbie dolls, VHS tapes once promoted as rare Disney treasures, and even full sets of printed encyclopedias that technology quickly rendered obsolete.

While a few rare variations still carry value, most collectibles followed the same pattern: heavy marketing, massive production, and a belief that nostalgia alone would guarantee future worth.

I Remember Iran

On November 4, 1979, militants seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage in a crisis that lasted 444 days and permanently reshaped U.S.–Iran relations. The takeover followed the Islamic Revolution that removed the pro-Western Shah and altered Iran’s political direction. The hostage crisis became a defining moment in how Americans viewed Iran.

I was a young airman with only a couple of sessions in the command center of a Titan II missile silo when the hostages were taken. Our squadron was placed on heightened alert — not since alerts during the Vietnam War had our nuclear arsenal been elevated that way. The tension wasn’t theoretical; it was operational, and many debating today’s conflict don’t remember Iran before 1979.

Austin Mass Shooting Heroes Before Grand Jury

Police officers credited with stopping the deadly mass shooting outside an Austin bar are expected to face grand jury review as part of the investigation. The gunman opened fire in the Sixth Street entertainment district, killing three people and injuring more than a dozen before officers responded and fatally shot the attacker. Authorities say the rapid response likely prevented additional casualties.

How Much Is That Doggie in the Airport?
