Back in the day, the term "hot hatch" was coined in reference to a growing sub segment of the passenger car market that featured performance-oriented hatchbacks - often straight from Europe - on American streets. Today, our truck and SUV crazy market continues to mark the demise of the traditional passenger car. However, Volkswagen has doubled down with the recent introduction of its latest generation of the original "hot hatch", the Golf GTI.
