Since 1994 the federal government has required information under the American Automobile Labeling Act that disclosed vehicle content that was sourced in the United States and Canada, as well as several foreign countries is the content provided was fifteen percent or more. Because of how the information is aggregated, there are problems. Two other well known content indexes: the annual Kogod Made in America Index and the Cars.com American Made Index attempts to provide consumers with more accurate, useable information.
