I remember waking up that day to this terrible news. News that would change the world. Forever.
I remember the mixed feelings about why it happened. Blaming as many others as possible before conceding that terrorists did this.
I remember that September 11, 2001 wasn’t the first attack, but the most devastating.
I remember how simple life was before 9/11. It has changed.
I remember how we all swore we would never forget. But we did.
I remember that we were the biggest kids on the block and that we would take care of the problem. For our own sake and the smaller kids. But we didn’t.
I remember the lists of people killed growing every day. The innocent, the people, and the children.
I remember how heroes looked and the fight they had recovering those innocents. But many died. Including some who were fighting for those lives.
I remember the tears, the sobs, the fear, the suffering. We all seemed united for New York.
I remember the promises of our leaders. But, as always, those promises would come with conditions.
I remember a life before TSA and Homeland Security. Who actually won this war?
I remember that liberty was once more important than security. Even Ben Franklin agreed.
Now our lives have not only been upended by the actions of that day, but continue to be upended by leaders who have the wrong philosophies and beliefs. And make worse and worse decisions on a daily basis.
There is no one person needing less of God to guide them. But of all those who do need Him, those in leadership do the most. Because of the responsibility of the millions of lives in their hands, no one president is immune to a need for a greater Leader. This is why we have so many issues today.
This short podcast is not meant to criticize our president or vice president. Even though it is obvious that they are struggling to lead us as they should, it is a commentary on the absolute need to see God as the genuine leader of America.
God created mankind. As long as that truth is ignored, man will always fight to survive. There will always be trouble between countries and suffering. Indeed, there will always be unrest with consequences between neighbors. Understanding each other will require knowing the One who created each other.
September 11th will stand as a reminder to those who care. It’s important to remember that everyone who is 20 years old and younger never experienced the horrors of that day. And while these individuals are very important to us, it cannot be overstated that they seem to care less and less for humanity each day.
So much can be said about the day America stood still. So much can be addressed. And considering the dilemma we have been led into with the Taliban and the circumstances in Afghanistan at this very moment, apparently much can be forgotten.
