Today I realized that the actions a president can take in a day could take a long time to understand. President Biden announced a requirement to sign an ethics pledge to work in his administration. At the same time, he seemed to revoke Executive Orders which enhanced transparency.

In 1995, Michael Douglas stared as President Andrew Shepard in the romantic comedy The American President. The movie ends with  President Shepard, a Democrat, giving an impassioned speech for freedom of speech - even for speech we don't like. I believe that speech would fall on a lot of Democrat deaf ears today. Can we go back to 1995 - when free speech was a Democrat idea? I hope so.
