Confidence in God to pray P2: Psalm 3: 1-8

1. The Introduction: Do we have confidence in God to pray – when our world is upside down?

1.1 Big Idea: To look at two things in Psalm 3 vv1-8 to encourage us to have confidence in God to pray (1-8)

2. The first thing is – God hears our prayers (1-4)

3. The second thing is – God works for us (5-8)

4. Conclusion: the exhortation: Now that we have heard these two things from Psalm 3 vv1-8: will we be encouraged to have confidence in God to pray (1-8)

Reflection: Do you have confidence in God to pray; when your world is turned upside down? Do you believe that God hears your prayers? Do you believe that God works for you?  Who do you put your confidence in when trials come your way? Knowing Christ Jesus: Philippians 3: 7-11

1. The Introduction: Do we really know Christ Jesus: to the point that we are trusting in Him?

1.1 Big Idea: To glean two things from Philippians ch3 vv7-11 that Paul gives us that we must do to help us in knowing Christ Jesus (7-11)

2 The first thing is negative – we must stop trusting in ourselves (7-9)

3. The second thing is positive – we must know Christ (10-11)

4. Conclusion: the exhortation: These two things that we have learned from Philippians ch3 vv7-11; gleaned from Paul that we must do to help us in knowing Christ Jesus – will we do them to help us in knowing Christ Jesus (7-11)

Reflection: For you is there a difference between knowing about Christ Jesus and knowing Christ Jesus? Do you really know Christ Jesus: to the point that you are trusting in Him alone? If you are trusting in yourself; will you stop and instead trust in Christ Jesus? Will you read your Bible to get to really know Christ Jesus to trust in Him alone – will you do this? God’s love: Romans 8: 31-39

1. The Introduction: As Christians do we appreciate God's love for us?

1.1 Big Idea: Here are two truths from Scripture to help us to appreciate God's love for us as we walk with Him is this fallen world (31-39)

2. The first truth to help us to appreciate God's love is: God’s love on the cross (32)

3. The second truth to help us to appreciate God's love is: God’s love in Christ (39)

4. Conclusion: the exhortation: These two truths that we have looked at from Scripture to help us to appreciate God's love for us as we walk with Him in this fallen world – will we appreciate God's love for us (31-39)

Reflection: Do you appreciate God's love for you? Is God’s love a feeling for you? Do you only appreciate God's love for you when things only go well for you? God's love for you on the cross – do you appreciate this truth? God's love for you in Christ – do you appreciate this truth? Will you appreciate God's love for you through adversity: and if you don’t what will you do? 4. Conclusion: the exhortation: These two qualities that we have looked at from Paul's life in Acts ch16: 1-5; to see how our love for people is – do we have a love for people (1-5)
