The 2021 baseball season will mark Dan's 32nd season with the Rochester Red Wings and his 27th as the club's General Manager. The Webster native is a 1985 graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School and a 1989 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Dan resides in Rochester with his wife Sheila and their two children, Cam and Anna.

Dr. Burt-Nanna has more than two decades of higher education leadership experience, having served in college and university system roles as faculty, department chair, dean, system department coordinator, and most recently as vice president and senior academic and student affairs officer.

(HER)OICS-Women's Lived Experiences During the Coronavirus Pandemic is a collection of writings from diverse women from all over the country-varied perspectives as they worked through the pandemic and dealt with unique issues. The speakers are two women with local roots whose stories are included in this anthology...one of them a current intensive care nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital.

This meeting is moderated by Past President Donna Dedee.

Their talk examines how federal and local policies like redlining and racially restrictive covenants (as demonstrated by this summer's Yale Law report) segregated Rochester, built wealth for its white citizens and disenfranchised people of color. It explores how local civil rights leaders like Judge Reuben Davis, Howard Coles, Dr. Alice Young and many others fought back. Finally, it connects these past policies to the disparity and inequality we see in Rochester today and invites us to learn from and apply the activism of Rochester's past to its present.

He is the author, co-author, and editor of several books, including Friendship & Happiness and the Connection Between Them; Lessons Learned from Popular Culture; The Sociology of Sports: An Introduction and Beyond Sustainability: A Thriving Environment. He is a member of the American Conference for Irish Studies, the Irish American Cultural Association, and the Colonel Patrick O'Rorke Memorial Society, as well as a frequent visitor to Ireland, especially Waterford.

"Serving the University and Rochester community as Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology is a great privilege and honor.

Oncology is a field of work I chose driven by the loss of my grandfather from cancer as a young man, and then later in medical school, as I came to understand the scientific challenges cancer medicine presented and the deep satisfaction of caring for and helping people facing cancer. In particular, I found the people I met in the clinics and labs who devoted themselves to this area to be role models and sources of inspiration."

Howard Stephen Berg's research into techniques for harnessing the power of the mind enabled him to pioneer his methods for reading over 25,000 words per minute (once considered quite impossible), writing over 100 words per minute, and for advanced problem solving strategies. The Guinness Book of World Records published Berg's claim as the world's fastest reader in their 1990 issue, the only year they distinguished this honor.

Howard's accomplishments have attracted wide attention from both the media and the academic community, enabling him to appear on over 1000 radio and television programs and spurring featured stories in major newspapers across the country.

Valarie joined Rotary in 2005 in order to fuel her passion for making an impact that matters. Valarie was District Governor of RI district 7070 covering the Greater Toronto Area in 2013/14. Now residing in Thornbury, her home club is the Rotary Club of Collingwood South Georgian Bay, RI district 7010.

Valarie has continued to serve Rotary in a number of international roles. She is an International Trainer, a member of the Host Organizing Convention Committee Toronto 2018, representative of the Rotary International President, and is an elected member of the Rotary International Board for 2020-2022.

Dr. Bennett is the founder and Director of the Center for Community Health & Prevention and Co-Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Dr. Bennett chaired the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices from 2015-2018. She has directed numerous studies and community interventions funded by the NIH, CDC, NYSDOH, and national and regional foundations related to the prevention of communicable and chronic disease. Dr. Bennett served for 17 years as the Deputy Director of the Monroe County Department of Public Health, and founded the Center for Community Health & Prevention in 2006. Dr. Bennett currently serves as co-chair of the Finger Lakes COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force.
