In this message we see how the Gospel that reconciles us to God through Christ, must also be reconciled to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Because we have been forgiven and welcomed into fellowship with Christ and His people, we must likewise forgive and welcome fellow believers into our lives.

Because the Gospel changes our relationships and fills us with Christ's love, we must receive one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter what our past backgrounds may have been. Here we learn how love is the motive for genuine Christian obedience to God

In Jonah's prayer, we experience the kindness of God that leads to repentance.

Because a genuine faith in Christ produces Christ-like actions of love, our faith should move us into deeper, mutual expressions of love for one another and for those around us.

Because we belong to Christ and to one another in Christ, believer must work through difficult issues together with love and abundant forgiveness as we work out the implications of the Gospel into every area of our lives.

James encourages the church in this passage to hear the word, receive the word, and apply the word.
