We see three things in the book of Jonah that we also see on the cross of Christ: 1. Our Sinfulness - Jesus bore the wrath of God for the sins of the world. 2. God's Amazing Grace - Christ was without sin but he died in our place as a Substitute. 3. God's Sovereign Mission - God breaks the chains of sin and paves the way for new life. Truly, something greater than Jonah is here!

As we conclude the book of Jonah, we can look at chapter 4 from two perspectives: 1.) In one sense, Jonah 4 is a very regrettable passage of Scripture. It is very difficult to look into the heart of Jonah. 2.) In another sense, Jonah 4 is a very cherished passage of Scripture. It is very comforting to look into the heart of God! In the end, we see clearly that "salvation belongs to the Lord" [Jonah 2:9]

In Jonah 3 we learn of three characteristics of God's amazing grace: 1. God holds no grudges 2. God makes no deals 3. God is people-oriented, not just task-oriented
