Perhaps one of the scariest things to come out of the '80s was a concept that you aren't safe, even in your dreams. As Nancy and Glen try to combat a supernatural entity they discover that their parents have everything to do with this as they murdered Fred Krueger and are now carrying the burden. An absolutely terrifying film having some of the best practical effects and body horror that still beats out films nowadays. The film that sparked one of the most charismatic slashers ever created that is still giving kids nightmares to this day. Some may scream "oh god" and he will reply "This, is God".

Sequels can oftentimes make or break a great movie. For Star Wars, it surpassed the original, for Halloween 3 on the other hand, it nearly destroyed it. This film is the perfect example of a sequel done right. Following Danny after the events of the Overlook hotel, we now see him grown-up and now in more danger than ever helping a young girl Abra from a cult with their own "shines". A fantastic mix of a new story while still delivering on the nostalgia and continuation from The Shining that everyone came to see. Will Danny be able to right the wrongs in his past or will a man take a drink, then a drink take a drink, then a drink take a man?

There are few things that go together so well as a full moon and werewolves. This film may be at the top of the list as two friends traveling in London become the next victims of a vicious attack. When David wakes up with the mark of the beast, it is only a matter of time before he too will change. A film that relies heavily on a comedy aspect and a love story that goes on for far too long still has alot to love about it especially Rick Baker. This having possibly the best transformation scene in movie history that still is revered as one of the best today. Check out this film while the moon is still full and remember to stick to the moors while doing so. 

A true masterpiece. These are the only words used to describe this film from Stanely Kubrick as it has remained relevant for so long and still revered to this day. A husband, wife, and son are tasked with becoming the caretakers for the Overlook hotel for the winter. However, what transpires is a true descent into madness as the hotel has other ideas for the family. A film with so many nuances to it as well as incredible music choices and cinematography that it has to be somewhere in everyone's top movie choices. Even if you haven't seen this film before you definitely know it from the pop culture references, but just know, you've always been here. 

As we continue Spooky Scary Stuff we take a look at a more modern style. A film that may have created a renaissance for what it is that horror can be without relying on jump scares. A film about a single mother trying to provide for herself and her difficult son, all while an evil presence has found its way in. A great film that touches on deep metaphors and mental health issues, creating an atmosphere that not only terrifies you with the creature itself but also with how real the emotions tied to it is. All you have to do, is let him in.

Mental illness is definitely something that is scary in its own right but adding other elements can bring it to a breaking point. A film that on the surface seems like a couple who is perfect in every way, however, when you have a woman who suffers from PICA who is also newly pregnant and has a few secrets of her own it can be anything but. A film that is stunning to look at with a great performance from Haley Bennett also has some incredibly intense scenes with what she is consuming. This film may have not had the recognition it deserves when it was released but we're still "lucky to have it"

How much should you believe when it comes to superstitions? Today we discuss a fantastic South Korean mystery horror that has you guessing the entire time whether you were right or wrong with who the true evil spirit is. A film about a cop trying to not only solve the mystery of why people are suddenly killing their loved ones, but also save his daughter from possession from an evil spirit. A film that is perfectly paced with a truly unsettling feeling the entire time, also shows some true comedy to take the edge off when it needs to. This is a great film to check out that shows not everything that moves, breathes or talks, is alive.   

Ari Aster created a very divided feature film in Hereditary, today we discuss his sophomore film that is even more divided. A clever twist to a classic horror sub-genre, we follow the story of Dani and friends experiencing the midsummer festival in a small town in Sweden. A film designed to disorient you and make you feel uneased does not pull any punches, just like Aster's first film. The biggest scare though is at a 2 hour and 40 minutes run time this can make the films already slow pacing feel worse on top of feeling like your missing something along the way. All of this aside, this is a technical masterpiece and If you can get through the issues with this film, even you can become the may queen.     

Welcome to the second season of Spooky Scary Stuff in which we discuss horror movies all throughout the month. To start things off we take a look at our first zombie film with a twist. A society that hasn't quite broken down yet as it is in the early stages of the apocolypse, treating it more like an uncurable disease rather than a horror genre. A powerful drama with a performance unlike you have seen before from Arnold Schwartzenegger, this film does have its faults but you won't resist taking another bite out of this one.

A ragtag group of criminals, a journey with twists and turns, and a plethora of interesting characters. This of course must be the work of the Coen Brothers as we follow Everett, Pete, and Delmar as they attempt to find a treasure but are hit with wacky shenanigans one after the other. A fun film is the best way to describe this with a wonderful soundtrack that could almost make this a musical and clever comedy all while possibly a super natural aspect to it. This is a feel-good movie that may not be perfect but for these three men they are in a tight spot, and you'll have fun watching them in it.
