John Bergsma is a professor of Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. He is a renowned biblical scholar who has the capacity to speak on a very practical level with humor, candor, and simplicity.

The Diocese of St. Petersburg’s “Eucharistic Encounter” was held at the JW Marriott Hotel on September 16, 2023, to help Catholics experience an encounter with the risen Lord in such a powerful way that their lives would be changed by this encounter. The event featured four dynamic speakers: Curtis Martin of FOCUS, Mother Olga Yaqob founder of the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth, Father Tim Anastos, Archdiocese of Chicago, and Dr. John Bergsma of St Paul Center. Also, Bishop Gregory Parkes celebrated Mass for all participants.

Mother Olga is the founder of the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth, a religious community that is focused on living a daily intimacy with Jesus.  Having lived through four wars in the Middle East, she exemplifies how to have love for our neighbors. Mother Olga brings a rich experience and knowledge in spirituality.

A priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Father Anastos typically works with college students navigating the challenges of life. He is currently serving as a National Eucharistic Preacher, leading people to a life-changing encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist. He is also an Instagram Influencer with his series “Reel Homilies,” that unpacks the Sunday Gospel readings through the lenses of Church tradition, pop culture, and self-improvement.
