In chapter 7, Paul described the present struggle—a spiritual man in a body of flesh, crying out, ‘Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?’ And he pointed us to Jesus—our only hope.

Now, as we move into chapter 8, Paul shows us what that rescue looks like. He begins to unfold the effect of Christ in our lives—and the work of the Holy Spirit within us.
