Everybody has questions about what happens when we die. The Thessalonians did, too. Their unanswered questions left them sad and scared. This grieved their pastor's heart--and God's! So Paul writes with some answers. But these aren't answers he just makes up, like the things we say at funerals to make ourselves feel better. What Paul tells his church is rooted in the most important fact in history: the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.

In Thessalonians 4:9-12 Paul tells us to be ambitious...about being quiet. "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life." As we all know, the Simple Life isn't so simple, though.

Paul instructs the Thessalonians on how to please God. He tells them it is God's will that they be pure and specifically sexually pure. He tells them how exactly to live their daily life to win the respect of outsiders and not be dependent on anybody.
