  • Whatever Is Lovely

We can spend hours thinking about something that went wrong, but how long do we stay with something that feels good?

In this episode of the Rooted & Renewed Podcast, I continue the conversation about attention, embodied memory, and inhabiting God’s design by exploring a different question:

Can we stay present with goodness long enough to actually receive it? For those who have become highly practiced at noticing problems, uncertainty, relational changes, symptoms, or what needs to be done next, moments of beauty, connection, pleasure, rest, and peace can sometimes pass surprisingly quickly.

Returning to Philippians 4 and the invitation to consider whatever is lovely, we explore the difference between simply noticing something good and actually allowing ourselves to experience it. This isn’t positive thinking. It isn’t forced gratitude. And it isn’t about using beautiful moments as a technique to “regulate” ourselves.

It’s a gentler invitation: When something is good, can you stay for just a little longer?

Maybe healing isn’t only expanding our capacity for what is difficult. Maybe it’s expanding our capacity for goodness, too.

  • One Part of the Story Isn’t the Whole Story

What if one of the gentlest questions we could ask ourselves is simply: “What is also true?” When something hurts, disappoints us, or makes us anxious, it can quickly become the lens through which we experience everything else. The difficult thing may be completely real, but it may not be the whole story.

In this episode of the Rooted & Renewed Podcast, I explore the power of the word also: making room for pain without allowing it to become the only thing we notice. Continuing the conversation from The Body Remembers the Good, Too, we return to Philippians 4:5–8 and its movement through God’s nearness, anxiety, prayer, thanksgiving, peace, and attention to what is true and lovely.

This isn’t positive thinking. It isn’t searching for a silver lining or denying grief.

It’s learning to hold a fuller truth.

This hurts. What is also true?

Maybe healing isn’t asking us to see less of what’s difficult.

Maybe it’s giving us the capacity to see more of what is there.

  • What Else Has Your Body Been Carying?

The body remembers the hard things, but what if it remembers the good, too? We’ve learned a great deal about trauma, triggers, childhood wounds, and the ways difficult experiences can shape the body. That understanding matters. But what happens when we become so practiced at looking for the wound that we forget to notice what else our story contains?

In this episode of the Rooted & Renewed Podcast, I explore the other side of embodied memory: the songs, smells, places, people, laughter, comfort, beauty, and connection that can still awaken something within us years later. We’ll also look at the beautiful progression of Philippians 4:5–8, from “The Lord is near,” through anxiety, prayer, thanksgiving, and peace, and finally toward intentionally noticing what is true, lovely, admirable, and praiseworthy.

This isn’t about denying pain or replacing difficult memories with positive thinking. It’s about widening our awareness enough to ask:

    What else is true?

And perhaps, as we learn to inhabit God’s design more fully, we can become just as curious about the goodness we’ve carried as we have been about the wounds.

What goodness does your body remember?

  • Blueprint Finale

What if God’s blueprint for a healthy, whole life was never meant to be a checklist?

In this final episode of the Blueprint series, we bring everything together, breath, nourishment, movement, rest, light, relationship, and purpose, and step back to see how these gifts were designed to work together.

Because healing isn’t about perfectly optimizing every part of your life. It’s about learning to listen, receive, respond, and return to what is life-giving.

We’ll explore what it means to move from information to inhabitation from simply knowing what is good for us to actually living in the rhythms God designed.

    The goal isn’t perfection.

    It’s responsiveness.

It’s learning to cooperate with the wisdom woven into our bodies, our relationships, our environment, and our everyday lives.

The blueprint was never a checklist.

    It was always an invitation.

    🌿 Stay rooted. Stay renewed.

  • It Is Not Good to Be Alone

It Is Not Good to Be Alone | Relationship as Part of God’s Original Design

Relationship isn’t a response to brokenness. It was part of God’s design from the beginning.

In this episode of Rooted & Renewed, we return to Genesis and explore the simple but profound truth behind God’s words: “It is not good for man to be alone.”

We were created for connection, to know and be known, to give and receive, to grow, and to share life with others.

But our experiences can make relationship complicated. We can confuse belonging with fitting in, connection with approval, or love with constantly being available.

This episode offers a gentle invitation to rethink relationship through the lens of God’s original blueprint, and to notice where He may be inviting us into healthier, more honest connection.

You were created for connection. You were never created to disappear in order to belong.

  • Purpose is Participation

Purpose Is Participation: You Don’t Have to Find One Big Calling

What if you don't have one giant purpose you're supposed to discover?

We often think of purpose as a single calling, a career, ministry, achievement, or life assignment that will finally explain why we're here. But what if purpose is less about finding one big thing and more about faithfully participating in the life God has already placed in front of us?

In this episode of Rooted & Renewed, we explore the idea that purpose was present before striving. From the garden of Genesis to the changing seasons of our own lives, we’ll consider what it means to care for what has been entrusted to us, recognize the gifts we already carry, and embrace purpose without turning it into another form of performance.

We’ll also talk about the difference between being needed and having purpose, why our value must come before our usefulness, and how purpose can change its expression without disappearing.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re behind, missed your calling, or lost your purpose because your life looks different than it used to, this conversation is for you.

Maybe you don't need to find one big calling.

    Maybe you need to ask:

What has God placed in my hands in this season?

    And:

Where am I being invited to participate?

  • Let There Be Light

What if one of the most important gifts God gave our bodies was something we see every single day, but rarely stop to notice?

In this episode of Rooted & Renewed, we explore the connection between creation, light, and the rhythms God designed us to live within. From the first words of Genesis “Let there be light", to the way plants, animals, our eyes, and our bodies respond to the changing light around us, we take a gentle look at what light may be telling us about the Creator and His design.

We’ll also consider how modern life has changed our relationship with natural light and darkness, and why today's wellness world is increasingly interested in things like circadian rhythms, red light, and blue-light exposure.

But this episode isn't about chasing the perfect wellness routine.

    It's about noticing.

    Noticing the morning light.
    Noticing the changing sky.
    Noticing the rhythms of creation.
And remembering that sometimes what we call a “new discovery” is simply something God has been giving us all along.

    In this episode:
    • Light in the creation story
    • Why living things respond to light
    • The body's relationship with day and night
    • How modern life has changed our light environment
    • A biblical perspective on light
    • A simple invitation to notice and reconnect

  • Created to Belong and Contribute Community, Purpose, and God’s Design

Where do I belong? And does my life really matter? These are questions many of us carry quietly through different seasons of life. In this episode of the Rooted & Renewed Podcast, I explore the connection between community, belonging, and purpose through the lens of God’s original design. From Genesis, we see that humanity was never created for isolation.

We were made for relationship, connection, and meaningful participation. But belonging can become complicated. Childhood experiences, rejection, peer pressure, and the desire to be accepted can shape the places we choose and the ways we show up in relationship. And purpose can become complicated too. We may think it has to be one dramatic calling or something impressive enough to prove that our lives matter.

This episode invites you to consider a simpler possibility: What if purpose is often revealed through ordinary contribution? And what if belonging is less about fitting in and more about being known?

    Together we explore:

    * The difference between fitting in and belonging

    * How early experiences can shape our sense of connection

    * Why purpose does not have to be dramatic to be meaningful

    * How community and contribution often work together

    * Why your value comes before your usefulness

    * How purpose can change across different seasons of life This is an invitation to stop asking only:

“What am I supposed to do with my life?” And begin asking: “Where has God invited me to belong?” And: “What has He placed in my hands to offer in this season?”

  • Living in Rhythm

Are you truly resting, or are you simply collapsing after a day of constant demands? And are you giving your body meaningful opportunities to move, or expecting one workout to compensate for hours of stillness? In this episode of the Rooted & Renewed Podcast, I explore movement and rest as complementary rhythms within God’s design.

Beginning in Genesis, we see that Adam was created for meaningful participation in the life around him, but he also entered into a rest God had already prepared. Movement was not punishment, and rest was not something he had to earn. This conversation explores:

    * Why movement was woven into ordinary life before it became “exercise”

    * How small moments of standing, stretching, walking, and moving can fit into a modern workday

    * Why physical stillness is not always the same as true rest

    * How brief pauses between responsibilities can interrupt the pattern of constant urgency

    * The difference between working for rest and learning to work from rest

    * Why movement can become participation rather than punishment

    * How rest can become an expression of trust rather than guilt

This episode is not about creating the perfect balance or adding another wellness routine. It is an invitation to become more responsive, to notice when your body needs movement, when your mind and spirit need rest, and how both can help you live with greater presence, grace, and trust in God.

  • You May Not Need Another Thing

What if healing is not always asking you to add something new?

In this episode of the Rooted & Renewed Podcast, I explore the difference between continually chasing the next health practice and learning to receive what God has already provided.

    Breath.

    Food.

    Rest.

    Light.

    Connection.

    Daily provision.

These gifts are already woven into ordinary life, yet it is possible to move through an entire day without truly noticing them.

This conversation looks at breath and nourishment as continual rhythms of receiving rather than isolated wellness techniques. It also briefly explores how we may bring stress, hurry, distraction, and old beliefs with us to the table, and why even one gentle breath can help us become more present to the meal and the moment.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why healing does not always require adding more
    • The difference between stewardship and control
    • How breath and nourishment reveal our dependence on God
    • Why our need to receive again is not weakness
    • How ordinary gifts can become reminders of daily provision
    • A simple practice for receiving one moment with greater awareness

This is not an invitation to create another checklist.

It is an invitation to pause and ask:

How can I receive what God has already provided?

Because sometimes healing begins not with doing more, but with noticing what has been sustaining us all along.
