In our passage to day, we learn that faith consists of desperation, persistence and humility, and also as we come to Jesus, He meets us individually, empathically and redemptively. He does all things well.

In today’s passage we see Jesus once again challenged by the Pharisees and scribes regarding the purification laws. Through this encounter we learn more about what exactly it is that Jesus came to do. We have seen that He is the promised King Messiah, but today we also see that He comes to fix which is unfixable - our broken hearts.

Our passage today we find the disciples right in the middle of a storm, maybe that’s where you are so maybe you can relate, but if you are not in one, hang on, it's coming. This is not to scare you but rather to prepare you. We can trust God in the midst of our storms.

We often think about the miracles of Jesus simply as a way for Jesus to show up and out. But as we kick off Season Two in the Gospel of Mark we will see that there is always more going on. Jesus is revealing Himself as the true revolutionary and the true King!

Chapter 3 is Habakkuk's prayer of praise in the form of a poetic song. He had been given the vision from God concerning the end; he had heard the Lord's response to his questions and concerns. Now he can only but stand back in awe and in reverence of the One who will act on behalf of His people. Habakkuk's prayer and song in this chapter is one that encompasses the past, yet stretches forth thousands of years and reveals details of the Lord's coming in glory to defeat all His enemies at the end of the age.

The biggest question in Habakkuk's prayers and laments is: "Is God good, when there is so much evil in the world?". The vision of Habakkuk in this portion of scripture is God's answer to this question. God doesn't only answer the prophet, He describes to the prophet how he should live in this in-between time in chapter 2:4 and 2:20; between the promise and the fulfillment. This brings us a great deal of comfort, as we also live in between the resurrection and the redemption of all things.

Habakkuk teaches us that we can look back on the Lord’s past faithfulness to trust Him with our present and future realities, even when what God is doing, doesn’t always make sense.

If we want to please God, to know His pleasure and power, we must believe that the God revealed in the Old and New Testaments exists and that He acts equitably and justly on behalf of His children.
