Questions for Reflection/Discussion:
1. Start off your time in a different and unique way. Take a moment or two for silence, and then lead in with a prayer asking the Lord to work through each of you during this time together.
2. Have you ever had any life or death moments that made you contemplate your mortality?
3. Have you ever had any positive or negative experiences surrounding the season of Lent? What did you learn about yourself and about Christ through this?
4. What are some areas of your life that seem to be unmanageable or are spinning out of control? What are some rhythms in your life that might be causing you to lose track of time or create busyness? Talk through some ways that you might be able to change these things or these rhythms to accomplish this in order to rest in the Lord? Are there any new rhythms that may help or be beneficial that you are not doing?
5. Lent is a season for self-examination, self-denial, and repentance. For repentance: Jesus says I am the Way. For self-examination: Jesus says I am the Truth. For self-denial: Jesus says I am the Life. Are there areas where you would say you’ve been going a wrong way, areas of your life where you’ve been believing or trusting in something false, or areas where you have been living for yourself? What are some ways that you can repent, self-examine, and deny yourself in order to truly believe in Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life in your life? Pray for these things together.
