Find people who are further ahead on the same path you’re on and ask them to show you the ropes. The people around you are either letting you feel like you’re doing great in your mediocrity or inspiring you to want more. That’s your task for next year: find the right people and dream a new dream.

There’s a place for each one but they must not be confused as the same thing. Hyping yourself up cannot have the same effect as asking God to intervene. It’s the same difference between children pointing to things they want without asking properly with please and thank you. There’s an age you let it pass and an age you won’t. Doesn’t mean the child can’t do what they like, but it can determine if they will get you to oblige.

Resist the Christmas marketing hype. You can do without that extra new dress and you will survive if you don’t go for that concert. If the trends continue, you will need a lot more money and face a higher cost of living in the new year. Let’s be rational. Or just ignore me and say YOLO ✌️
