Own The Room (OTR) owning the room is an expression that means commanding the attention, respect, and action of others in a situation. The Nation's Capital of Washington, D.C., host a number of talented artists that are strong in numbers and truly show up for one another during certain showcases across the city. The Blade Entertainment and Disc Jockeys in the city are credited for managing and hosting some of the hottest artists in the District.
Meet Big Gilly!
The minute Big Gilly walked through the front door with her girls, you knew she was somebody important with her sense of fashion and bling of jewels. The crazy part was the one thing I noticed immediately; with only one sporty Jordan 12 Retro Black University Gold and a medical boot. You had to be there to see the way she ignored her injury and gave the crowd a show that they would have never imagined.
Owning her accountability for her mistakes in high school and the choices she once made landed her in the hot seat. Today, she can be seen on Billboards in Time Square and performing her song "Walk" streaming now on Apple music.
A mosh pit style of attention was rocking the club with her "Walk" single with credits to several D.C. artists that influenced her hit song.
She's a mother and a developing artist who's sharing her gifts with the world and showing others how to make moves through collaborations and support in any way. The woman she has become is truly an inspiration from becoming a young mother to standing on her own two feet while helping others with her big heart.
With the passion, she expressed you could tell there was more than you could see on the surface and I wanted to learn more about her story. During this interview, I was able to fully understand the dedication that we all saw in just one performance. She's a performer and ultimate crowd pleaser no matter the scenario --she's going to OTR.
I'll give you a chance to hear the heartbreaking tragedy that most people encounter throughout their life in a Metropolitan City. The actions of the law truly made a mistake in the killing of her family member who she continues to fight for years later. Over the years we continue to see killings and so many just like myself, experienced a homicide that should have never occurred in the District of Columbia.
D.C. legends made sure they supported her and her family by attending Antwan Gilmore services. Watch her entire interview as she gives you her authentic heart while also giving flowers to those who helped along her journey.
