I was lucky enough to catch an early screening of Asteroid City thanks to a very cool offer given by Letterboxd and Focus Features. I really enjoyed the experience as well as the film itself. In this review, I talk about Wes Anderson, his filmography as a whole, and of course Asteroid City. There are many contrasting elements that make it work for me, and this I believe is a quintissential part of Wes Anderson's identity as a filmmaker, and why he is able to create such distinct, iconic projects. On Thursday I had the pleasure of seeing Across The Spider-Verse. Though I went in with high expectations, the film met and exceeded every single one of them. My only complaint was that this supremely entertaining work of art didn't allow me to enjoy it any longer. In this review I discuss a lot of what I found to be so exceptional about the film, from its central conflict and plot to the emotional beats of its characters. All of these are done so exceedingly well because of the care and thought put into every aspect of the film. This weekend I was lucky enough to find some time to watch Guardians 3. Since Endgame, this has been my most anticipated release and it certainly didn't disappoint. In this review, I talk about the heart and genuine emotion James Gunn manages to fit into his stories for his massive casts of characters, and what, to me, makes the Guardians of the Galaxy stand out from the rest of the recent Marvel fare, and the MCU as a whole. This weekend, I watched Ghosted with my girlfriend. The film got off to a rocky start, made palatable only by a ridiculous theory she had shared with me that Armas and Evans actually did not film this movie together. The only thing more absurd than this theory was the fact that it was genuinely believable for about 6 minutes of runtime. I discuss the assorted shortcomings of the movie, from my point of view, and highlight how the opening of a movie sets us up for how we engage with the rest of it. This weekend I was fortunate enough to catch the limited release of Malum, a higher budget and more polished version of the 2010s horror film Last Shift from the same creator. While it was very well executed and obviously took advantage of its increased budget, it fell short in several areas and for the most part let me down. I went in expecting a top of the line horror experience, and got something that was solid, but not exceptional. Watch this review and corresponding scenes on my YouTube here. In this shorter, more surface-level review, I discuss the most recent  Scream film. I found it to be supremely enjoyable and for the most part  firing on all cylinders. With very minor missteps, it's a clever and fun  movie that rewards attentive viewers and fans of the franchise, while  being digestible and highly enjoyable to newcomers as well. Thursday night, I saw Quantumania. It is everything you've heard about  it and more, but in the bad way. I cover most of what causes this  unfinished product to leave a bad taste in your mouth in this review,  but really there's not even much in the movie that inspires, positively  or negatively. It's a forgettable, underwhelming experience that I would  recommend forgoing entirely. Up to you if that description applies to  this review as well. Last Wednesday I saw Knock At The Cabin. I ended up enjoying it thoroughly, much more so than I had initially expected to. There are a litany of reasons this was the case, but I take a look at a few in particular. Namely, the structure the film sets upon itself due to its premise, and its opening. Both of these work to inform the audience of how they should engage with the movie, and make the viewing experience better for it. This week, I had watched two new pilots that premiered on HBOMax. I  loved one, and felt exhausted by the other. I discuss how these two  different adaptations of renowned IPs differ and what lead to their  completely opposite receptions from both critics and audiences.
