The Taylor Swift experience continues in Canada. Yesterday a listener texted he or she had 2 tickets for a Toronto concert for sale at $8500. They sold within half an hour (we were not involved).
Guest: Alan Cross. Host of The Ongoing History of New Music and the podcast Uncharted - Crime and Mayhem in the Music Industry. Also on ajournalofmusicalthings.com
The 111th Grey Cup will be played today when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers make their fifth consecutive appearance in the national championship and the Toronto Argonauts are forced to play their backup quarterback. This is the eighth time the Blue Bombers and Argonauts have met in the Grey Cup, with Toronto winning all seven previous games.
Guests:
Instead of a Christmas turkey, how would you feel about a Christmas meal featuring crickets? The effort to convert Canadians to insect consumption is underway and not being well-received.
Guest: Professor Sylvain Charlebois. Director of the Dalhousie University Agri Foods lab. His current op-ed in the Toronto Sun: Why Canadians aren't ready to trade steak for crickets
The immigration issue continues to make headlines with the U.S. preparing to remove 11 million undocumented migrants and Tom Homan, the new U.S. border Czar, indicates criminal gangs will be the first focus. Where might such gangs and members head for? Canada? How prepared is this country for any mass migrant crossing from the U.S.? What laws do we have to intercept and remove anyone on a criminal wanted list internationally?
As well, the trial of two individuals charged with human trafficking begins tomorrow. They are charged in the deaths of an Indian family who froze to death in northern Minnesota in 2022 while attempting to cross into the United States illegally.
Guest: Richard Kurland. Immigration lawyer in Vancouver.
