This episode of the RTI Podcast discusses how important in-state recruiting needs to be for the Vols. Does it benefit Tennessee to focus more on in-state prospects in recruiting? Or are they better off looking at other states to bring in talent? We spoke with Michael Bratton of Saturday Down South about how Jeremy Pruitt’s recruiting is different than Butch Jones’ recruiting, why South Carolina is now a bigger threat to the Vols on the recruiting trail, what the competition is like for the Vols in the SEC in recruiting, and more.

We then transition to an interview with Al Blanton of Blanton Media Group and creator of Hall & Arena to discuss his recent piece for Saturday Down South titled DNA of a Dynasty that details the rise of Nick Saban at Alabama. We discuss the parallels between where Alabama football was when Saban took over to where Tennessee football is now when Jeremy Pruitt was hired. We also detail the similarities in personality and approach to recruiting and football between Saban and Pruitt. Could Tennessee have a Saban-like figure on staff?

This episode of the RTI Podcast features an interview with Mark Nagi about his new book Decade of Dysfunction. The book details the last 10 years of Tennessee football and explains why the Schiano Sunday in November of 2017 was about more than just UT fans not liking the hire of Greg Schiano as head football coach. We also gave you some updates about Tennessee’s recruiting in football, and we looked at just how big of a rebuild Jeremy Pruitt is facing with the Vols. Is it as big as some people think, or will the Vols get turned around quicker than anticipated?

This episode of the RTI Podcast changed things up a little bit. Instead of interviewing someone in sports media or a coach, we spoke with the father of one of Tennessee’s newest additions to their football team. We interviewed the father of cornerback Brandon Davis, a three-star signee in the Vols’ 2018 class, about his son’s recruitment, why he flew under the radar in football, and more. We also dove into what exactly is going on with two 2018 signees, four-star linebacker J.J. Peterson and four-star defensive tackle Brant Lawless, and why one of them will probably not make it onto the Vols’ roster for the upcoming 2018 season.

There’s also a look at recent developments in Tennessee’s recruiting and why Jeremy Pruitt’s recruiting success is likely different than Butch Jones’ recruiting for the Vols.
