The whole world has been watching in grief at the horror that has been engulfing Aleppo for so many months. It is for that very reason, therefore, that we are releasing a powerful piece of music that Geth Griffith improvised for us earlier this year, specifically with Syria in mind. (Geth is a lecturer in contemporary music from the Royal Northern College of Music).

As I listened again to this piece yesterday morning, verses from chapters 33-35 of the prophet Isaiah came to mind to record with the music. When I came to speak these chapters, however, (I was using the ESV at the time) it did not feel felt right just to read them, so I turned them into more direct language, linking them specifically to the situation in Syria, though also for other extreme situations. You will see what I mean as you listen . . . May the Lord lead you on in your prayers for all the people caught up in the grief of this situation and who carry the deep scars with them . . .

We have set this prayer for Russia firstly to Rachmaninov's Great Ektenia - a word which means supplication or fervent prayer of the heart - and then moving on to his 'Bogoroditse devo' that we have released before. We are calling upon the Lord to release His mercy on those who live in Russia and the surrounding nations, and for all that is going on in those lands.

Ros and I recorded a number of passages from the book of Ecclesiasticus a few years ago, together with Alex McVickers, and we’ve set a number of verses here that are relevant to controlling our tongue to powerful music we recorded by Dvorak and Vivaldi.

At this time of uncertainty following the elections in early 2018 Italy stands in urgent need of receiving a reviving Breath of God and a fresh move of the Spirit!
